Everyone please chill

We just played a top 10ish team on the road, at night, in our first game of the year.  We were 50 yards away from tying the game at the end.  The teams were fairly even all game long, despite the score for 3 quarters.  Anyone saying we were outclassed is just being silly.  It was a close game.

Patterson did great.  Neither TO was fully on him.  The INT he shorted out of bounds while getting hit.  The fumble was bound to happen.  Even McCaffery did well (I see you mineral king).

The defense was shell shocked but settled down into what we will see all year.

The play calling was fine, aside from a couple plays.  The 2 minute drill is impossible to run with a porous O-line.  You have to let them get their blocking somewhat figured out.  I didn't have any problem with our play calling.  Don Brown adjusted well, the offense did a good job of hiding the bad play on the line.

Which... did play horribly.  We can only hope that Warriner can make improvement over the year.  They have time, but they could be what kills the season.

We are not out of anything.  Still control our own destiny.  We would have destroyed App State, Utah State, and Oregon State.  Our conference looks beatable.

This loss means very little in the scheme of things.

They sat on a 11 point lead? No.  ND got shut down in the 2nd half.  Lol our offense and defense blow?  Seriously? I hope you all realize how stupid you sound right now in 3 weeks.  This was a good team. We put up yards, shut them down for 35 minutes, and had a chance to win.  A 7 point loss at a good ND team is not like losing to Rutgers.

People aren't going to chill.

This is a fan base from a proud institution full of individuals who puff their chests.

Then a game like this happens and it deteriorates. This fan base is full of awful, whiny bitches and there's no chance in hell anyone chills.

What an embarrassing compilation of human shit that's convinced itself it doesn't stink.

I hope you're being sarcastic but I am so sick of saying the exact same thing!  This is not (at least didn't used to be) a third-rate football program that just limped along like Perdue or Northwestern.  Maybe I was spoiled by them being so good for so long but the last ten years has killed me.

Hate to break it to you, this team isn’t much, if any better than last year. The play calling is downright terrible, and the o line appears worse. And the D is vastly overrated. Here’s what will happen over the next month or so. We’ll beat up on bad/mediocre teams up until Wisconsin. Everyone will be back to talking up the team again like we have a legitimate B1G shot. Then we get bombed three straight weeks. Just like we did tonight.

How, exactly, did we get bombed?  They scored one of their TDs on a 60 yard arm punt.  We outgunned them yardage wise IN ADDITION to a 99 yard kick return.  Wimbush was on the ground every single play.  We were within 5 yards of scoring and came away without any points.  A lot of things factored against us, but to say ND exposed us is simply disingenuous.

I mean, the 2nd play of their first drive should have been a pick.

The 2nd TD should have been a pick.

They should have been off the field on the 3rd TD drive if not for a dumb (but also sort of soft) penalty by Winovich.

There was frustrating shit in this game, but a lot of what contributed to the loss felt more like crazy night game things.

You're right in that this game prob could've swung on a handful of plays - ND made a few while Michigan didn't, like Hawkins letting INT get ripped away for 6, botched FG, etc. Some of that'll happen in first games. But too many penalties and mental errors to overcome (series-opening delay of game calls, fielding punts inside 10, numerous 3rd and long conversions, etc).

Not their best game. This team can right the ship though if they resolve some OL issues and find an identity.

ND front 7 also dominated and won the game along with a couple big plays by wimbush. This team still struggles to run the ball vs good to great D's (another tough loss with less than 2 YPC) and that's a huge problem for a team fully intent on pro styling opponents to death. That's all I'll really say about the OL right now

Would of, could of, should of.  None of that shit matters anymore. This program hasn’t beaten anyone on the road since 2006.  I don’t give a shit why we lose anymore.  Go ahead and try to convince yourself that Michigan was the better team tonight.  What does it matter?  I’m not sure what it will take for this program to regain the prestige of the Bo and Lloyd era.  Harbaugh was my last hope.

ND got lucky on so many plays that could have killed their drives -just seemed to be their night.  I think they will be harshly exposed when they play a strong team on the road (without ACC officiating either).  UM did itself no favors, but ND looked beatable.

No dude. Harbaugh called a shit game. The O playcalling was like a 12 yr old's first try at Madden. Fucking pathetic. The quick hits were there all day and he studiously ignored them. Even after they proved to be effective. Went right away from them.

The team stinks any moron can see the flaws in our oline. The difference between us and the rest of the big ten east is that those teams will continue to improve as the season progresses. We are the exact same team as last season. What the fuck was harbaugh doing all offseason. The guys a joke overated and it may be time to move on come November

He is a NC player on a NC defense. Unfortunately he's on a team with a shit O with a far outdated head coach calling far outdated plays. Bo's offense wasn't really all that great even when we could out-talent everyone. Calling his plays nowadays is the dumbest fucking thing on the planet.

We added RPO. We ran it on the first drive. Our OL stinks but Jim did add wrinkles in the off-season. We all want to win but to say things that aren't true isn't helping. I think we played ok for a night game right out of the gate at their house. It was going to be tough to pull out a win there and we were pretty close. We can still get 10 wins this season. This game could motivate. It could be a good thing.

I'm honestly encouraged by the game, overall.

Yes, I'm disappointed by the loss -- even more so by the possibility of a come from behind at the end.

But I saw that we have two decent-to-good quarterbacks who make mostly good decisions and accurate throws.

I saw a defense settle in to a real road game against what will be a top 10 team on Monday, and hold them to 3 points in the half.

The OL remains completely out-talented, still.

This reminds me a lot of the 2014 Utah game. I'm glad we got it out of the way week 1, because it will be a growth experience. I expect us to win at least one of OSU or MSU this season because of this experience.

They did, but some ichigan fans will tell you it was against Oregon St., which it was but Ohio St. Scored that many points the first game.  I knew our q.b. position would be better, and Mike Webber looked awesome yesterday.

In the end, it's just football. The world still turns and we still have to go to work next week. Having a bad Michigan team for years has made me numb to losses.

I'm chilling my enthusiasm for this team. That's whats "chillin". High school level mistakes out there and the play calling was a fireable offense. Clock management should be recorded and played at conferences as an example of how you can screw up a game in no time at all. Harbaugh isn't using the tools he's given. Harbaugh wants to drive nails with a pair of pliers.

Been chillin for what seems like forever now.  So much hope for this season and yet feel fooled again.  I admit I bought into the hype and really thought the offense was going to make a huge improvement.  Very disappointing  to really be out of the game but yet make it look like we had a chance at the end.  Both turnovers were absolutely on Patterson, protect the ball it’s your job!!!

No one is panicking.

Im not even sensing much anger.

I believe we are saving a lot of time in 2018 and jumping ahead to step 5 acceptance.

I feel for you that you are in denial and are going to have a bad fall.

You’re delusional. Don brown’s scheme has been exposed. The O line is no better and Patterson is tentative. There is no margin for error now with Wisconsin, MSU, PSU and OSU left. 9-3 is likely. Is that worth the HC making $7MM per?
