Shannon Sharpe & Rob Parker rant about M, predict 7-5 record

Submitted by Decatur Jack on

Not that anyone cares, but if you're looking to get fired up for the season and for the first game, look no further than the inane hot takes from Fox Sports Undisputed.

Shannon Sharpe and Rob Parker think Michigan is the most overrated program in college football. Also apparently Harbaugh will go 7-5 and be run out of town and go back to the NFL.

(Needless to say, Parker picked the Irish to win this Saturday. And Sharpe let out a "C'Mon Notre Dame!" in the middle of the debate.)

I've embedded the video clip at the bottom if you're interested in seeing the whole thing, if only for the lulz and eye rolls. If not, I transcribed some hot taeks from Rob Parker (who, btw, also thinks Tom Brady is overrated):

"Harbaugh is like a pizza delivery boy who doesn't deliver. And he makes too much dough."

"I think he'll QUIT his job and go to the NFL after it's all over! I do! I just think that that's where he'll wind up at when he realizes he can't get it done."

"Michigan is the most overrated college football program in the HISTORY of the UNITED STATES!!"

And here's a nugget from Shannon Sharpe:

"You know what, I'm gonna be NICE to ol' khaki pants. I'll say he'll go... 7-5."

Tell us how you really feel, guys. Clearly these two have an axe to grind, and it's actually kind of hilarious the lengths they'll go to shit on Michigan.

My wife is friends with his ex wife's cousin. Allegedly his ex wife kept a journal about how she really felt about him. Allegedly the stuff in that journal made his feelings about Michigan look like an episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. When he found the diary, they decided to divorce. He's been a bitter little bitch ever since.

That was actually a somewhat interesting watch. It's clear that neither Rob or Shannon has looked at any evaluations of the current team's roster. All they discussed was the past three years and tired old tropes. Provided no analysis of the offensive or defensive scheme. Shannon didn't even know who Notre Dame's QB is. Skip, who is usually atrocious, at least looked at UM's roster.

Honest question, why would anyone pay to have Rob Parker on their show? That guy has never added value to anything. Add me to the list of people that are shocked he still has a job in sports.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how today’s news cycle works:

No research or investigation required. Just say outrageous things to get clicks and get a rise out of people, engage in some Twitter pissing contest, wait for the next story to come along, and repeat.

That’s basically how Stephen A Smith’s job description reads.

Pretty sure after last night MSU is the overrated program.

Losing to a 6-7 Mountain West team until just over 2 minutes left.

Anyway, stop watching guys opine on TV.  Just infotainment.

Neither one knows the first thing about Michigan.

Neither has watched any film, and they are just speaking what was agreed upon before the show with the producers to best generate controversy for ratings, then clicks, etc

They obviously didn’t do any real research on the team before spouting off.  7-5?  What 5 teams is Michigan going to lose to?  Every ranked team plus one non-ranked team?  Not happening.

Notre Dame

MSU

Wisconsin

Penn State

Ohio State

There is five right there, all 5 who are currently ranked above Michigan. And 3 of those games are on the road.

It is not inconceivable that Michigan finishes with 5 losses. There are other tough games on the schedule too.

That said, these guys were just looking to say something outrageous for clicks.

Oh, joy.....we have to hear from Rob Parker and Shannon Sharpe now.

I like that Parker has gone full in on the "He'll go back to the NFL" narrative. I mean, never mind all the evidence to the contrary, but hey, Rob Parker will continue to be his miserable self.

Rob Parker is a joke. Talking about were the most overrated team in history saying we have only one National Championship. We have 11 how about you do some research before you act like a bigger idiot

Yeah, Harbaugh is such a loser that after he fails he's going to be a head coach in the N F F'ing L. They wish they were that big of a "loser"

People talk about how much Rob Parker sucks (and I agree 100%), however Shannon Sharpe is no better. Honestly, if you ever watch his show with Skip, the only thing he seems to have good knowledge in is the NFL (due to him playing in it). Outside of that, he has no analytical skills in different sports or leagues.

Michigan lost 19 starters last year, the media around predicted an 8-4, 9-3 season, and with our 3rd string QB, went 8-5.

I know these "analysts" on these shows are they're to just get on people's nerves, but it still irks me how people can act so confident about things they know nothing about. I don't watch Michigan Hockey, so I am not going to go into a Hockey thread this year, proclaim numerous predictions that are unsupported, and basically hold my dick out to the rest of the world.

Right here. Anyone paying attention to Coach knows his value of what history communicates. If he wins a National Championship and/or multiple Big Ten titles while winning against his rivals, he will walk. He won’t leave unless asked to otherwise. It is part of his glorious ego, in a good way.
