OT: New Music Thread - What are you currently listening too?

Submitted by I'm Batman on

Self explanatory. Haven't seen one of these in a while. And i'm currently bored with my current playlists.
So what are you listening too? All genres welcome.

Especially groups with whole albums worth a listen.

Go see them live. Half the crowd there has never even heard of Zeppelin and I bet a good portion of them are going to go get guitar lessons the day after the show. The other half of the crowd probably loves Zeppelin and loves what GVF are doing. I was very apprehensive going in but am completely sold. Those kids are amazingly good and fun. This isn't Kingdom Come either. This isn't Secret Machines. Hopefully this doesn't turn into the debacle that ended up being Wolfmother. This is the real deal and is definitely worth enjoying now. My favorite line about the band is that A&R guys ran out of bands to sign so Jason Flom built a time machine and started signing bands from the 70's. Go see them live and forgot about any preconceived notions you have about them.

Dude - seriously? Name a great Wolfmother song not on the first album. Andrew's ego got so big after the first album nobody around him was good enough anymore. He fired everybody and could never even get close to making the quality of songs they made on the first album. There was a decent track here and there since - but c'mon. GVF haven't even put out a full album yet. Give them a chance - go see them if you can. I'm actually a fan of both bands. It's good to see people making music with guitars - there's not enough of it.

So glad they got mentioned this quickly!

Guys, they sound like a lot of other things in addition to Zeppelin, and even if you insist on disagreeing with me, they HAVEN'T EVEN RELEASED A FULL ALBUM. Give them time to develop, they are so young.

Early Zeppelin was critically punished for being considered derivative to many blues artists, Robert Plant is aware of this and that is why he has given GVF his blessing.

Not to mention that the band has said countless times that they don't even listen to Led Zeppelin, but they listen to blues, folk, world, and much of the sound that influenced Led Zeppelin as well, so the result when you mix them together is gonna be a similar sound to Zeppelin.

Here is my favorite song by them, it's an unreleased track. Here is an acoustic performance of it though, the drummer can play some good guitar too!

The Essex Green - new album "Hardly Electronic" plus "The Long Goodbye" and "Cannibal Sea".  Khruangbin's "The Universe Smiles Upon You" is good, too.

I was disappointed with Young Thug's album (Slime Language). Only song I really got into was Tsunami. Beautiful Thugger Girls was soooo much better. Astroworld was fine, a few bangers but nothing like Rodeo. Obviously Drake's album "Scorpion" was great, but that was awhile ago.

Idk seems like a lull in new music right now, at least new music from genres that I typically go for.

Australian metalcore band Polaris. Up and coming band and should be the next big thing in the scene. If anyone is a metal fan, listen to their album The Mortal Coil. One of the most solid albums I’ve heard in a long time.

Lights covered Drake's entire side B of Scorpion. IMO, it was better than the original, but she was ordered to take it down from all streaming platforms.

For some reason started listening to Pennywise again. About Time might be my favorite, but Full Circle and Straight Ahead are both good albums.

I've posted here before in other music threads that in most cases I prefer female vocals. Right now my favorite might by XYLO.

I just recently came across thievery corporation so I’ve been going through all there old albums. Newest album came out in April. Mac Miller’s new album is great. Gotta be in the right mood to listen to it.
