Michigan's all-time rankings for cumulative statistics of major categories in CBB

So as the basketball is in Spain, I figured I'd talk about just how recognizable the MBB program is around the world. I've done some research vigorously with these stats over the years for the basketball program to see just how storied and prestigious we've become in that sport

To be clear, context is important as some categories (i.e. conference titles) are skewed greatly towards mid-major powerhouses. Also a regular season divisional title counts as a conference title even if you didn't have the best overall conference record as that was how it was done on one of the sites I researched (Sports-Reference.com) 

I did not include vacated accomplishments of ANY team as a way to level the playing field. This will in return will give us a minimum view just where we stand in each category. I only did up to Michigan's ranking on the list and then included every other program we tied with

As you can see, we still have work to do to be considered a blueblood in the sport, though I'm sure if you added the vacated results we have, the prognosis is a lot better. Keep in mind there are now over 350 programs in D-I, and we're averaging about a top-20 ranking in most categories. Also, in the "tourney performance categories" (categories I'm sure we all care about the most), we're usually in the top-10

So to answer an increasingly common question for us now, no we're not a blueblood in the sport of basketball yet. The first important step to get to that point is to improve our national title count IMO

On an upward trend.

It's pretty much impossible to join the blue blood group though because by definition "blue blood" is an old boys club that you pretty much have to be in starting decades ago.

You did not include the one that really skews in our favor: National Title Game appearances.  When we make the Final Four, we tend to win the first game (7-1) but lose the championship (1-6).  If we include the vacated appearances, we are 6th most with seven appearances, behind only five bluebloods (UCLA, Kentucky, North Carolina, Duke, Kansas). 

This includes five in the past 30 years -- only Duke has more (eight) in that time, while UNC is the only other school with five.

Even with the vacated appearances removed, we are behind only one more blueblood (Indiana):

Interesting that Michigan fares better on 1st round NBA talent than any of the other categories. Is it because we have not been well-coached? That the NBA overrates our players? Or the "supporting casts" were not at the same level as these other schools?
