Another Penn State DE to medically retire
https://www.collegian.psu.edu/football/article_ab269c60-a191-11e8-b6d5-2fffb825ad05.html
Both of Penn State's starting defensive ends, Ryan Buchholz and Torrence Brown, have medically retired. That makes a grand total of 5 medical retires for Penn State this off-season. This is a huge hit to Penn State's defense and I'm honestly not sure why so many player are medically retiring in Happy Valley

Whoa. They basically replace their whole defense, not to mention the dudes on O. Gonna be an interesting season for PSU.
August 18th, 2018 at 11:25 PM ^
This was expected.
" The senior’s 2017 season ended with a knee injury in week three and was not expected to return this year."
August 18th, 2018 at 7:48 PM ^
I don't feel bad for the fans, but I feel bad for the players that retired and for their teammates that have to struggle through it. This stinks.

Just wait till field goal franklin declares another healing has begun comment.
BTW, FUCK penn state and all their delusional joepa loving fans!!!
August 18th, 2018 at 7:53 PM ^
I hope nothing good happens to penn state for eternity. Them winning the big ten a couple years ago was sickening. Fuck that school.
But seeing people retire bc of injury is not cool.
August 18th, 2018 at 9:39 PM ^
Feel bad for the players but that was a complete joke. They were the 4th best team in the big 10 and somehow in it smh
August 18th, 2018 at 7:54 PM ^
That’s their whole d line, right? Both d tackles went to the nfl I think
August 18th, 2018 at 7:55 PM ^
This is a bit misleading as the first article indicates PSU’s best DE is still on the team. Should hurt depth though.
August 18th, 2018 at 7:58 PM ^
Wonder if Parsons & Oweh gets some run.
August 18th, 2018 at 8:06 PM ^
They would get some run regardless. They are beasts
August 19th, 2018 at 7:35 AM ^
Parsons is listed as a WLB and is second string. He's listed as 6'3" 248 lbs.
August 18th, 2018 at 8:06 PM ^
Yeah Shareef Miller is their best DE.
August 18th, 2018 at 8:09 PM ^
I changed the title
August 18th, 2018 at 8:10 PM ^
Yeah, my bad. Their DE situation is a little confusing. Brown was the starter, then got injured, then Buchholz became the starter at the same spot
August 18th, 2018 at 9:46 PM ^
yeah i didnt read the article but i know theyre expecting big things from shareef miller at DE after starting last season. brown couldve been a rotation player so i guess its a loss but nothing too major since they werent really counting on him
August 18th, 2018 at 8:05 PM ^
I can't imagine too many programs outside of Alabama having the depth to shrug off losses like this.
August 18th, 2018 at 8:06 PM ^
PSU shouldn't have had room to grant them scholarships to begin with. Spineless NCAA unable to follow through on their punishments. Enabling m#$%^&*(
August 18th, 2018 at 8:18 PM ^
the &*( looks like a person who got punched in the face
August 18th, 2018 at 8:14 PM ^
What the hell is going on out there??
August 18th, 2018 at 8:25 PM ^
Scott Paterno tried to eat them.
August 18th, 2018 at 10:10 PM ^
And Jay Paterno defended Scott Paterno trying to eat them.
August 18th, 2018 at 8:28 PM ^
This one isn't overly surprising --- Torrence Brown missed 10 out of 13 games last year (knee injury early in Game 3) and he was always a question mark to come all the way back off of that. He tried to come back, but it was too much.
The bigger PSU DL news is, arguably, that Shane Simmons was photographed in a walking boot. Who knows what that's about.
August 18th, 2018 at 9:12 PM ^
Backup QB/Ath. Tommy Stevens is in a boot as well.
August 18th, 2018 at 9:46 PM ^
I'm going to say it again. What kind of drugs have they been giving their players that multiple young guys are broken at this stage in their lives?
August 19th, 2018 at 5:47 AM ^
It's football man. It is a very violent game. Bama is down 2 LB's at the same spot this spring as well. I highly doubt penn st is giving their players some type of "drug" that leads to career ending injuries. That sounds ridiculous.

Other sad college football news....
August 18th, 2018 at 11:26 PM ^
Ya medically retire! I’m sure of the 5 players they’re is 2-3 who could still play if need be. Just a easy way to clear the fat.
August 19th, 2018 at 12:23 AM ^
Something else to investigate at Penn St.
August 19th, 2018 at 8:53 AM ^
Clearing out future day 1 play time for Zach Harrison.
