Losing a football game isn't punishment for what happened there. Zach Smith going to jail, Urban Meyer and Gene Smith being fired (along with anyone else that turned a blind eye to this), and a long hard look at the Powell Police Dept would be a just punishment. Alas, none of this will actually happen.

Meyer will be back. And don’t think for a minute he isn’t doing his thing from the “sidelines” right now. Gosh I hate OSU. In my dreams I see that SOB two years ago (@ OSU) running up & down the sidelines exhorting the fan base while every ref was an OSU affiliate. Maddening. I’m praying we beat their hind ends come November.

Better pray real hard.  The Bucks offense will be 10 times better this year with a q.b. who can pass better on a consistant basis, throw in 2 good running backs and you have the making of a offensive machine.

So apparently President Drake isn't in charge...  I had a 5 minute happy period thinking that they were doing an actual, thorough investigation.  I don't know how we can take any investigation seriously that announces how long it will take ahead of time.  Thorough investigations take the time they take.

If they didn't take time to turn over every stone, this could come back to haunt them.  But then, I was shocked they hired him in the first place.

If they know when it's going to be over, I assume he's back. Seems like they're already done investigating and are just allowing an appropriate amount of time to pass to make it seem like they did their due diligence. If it lingered on, I'd be more convinced that there was an actual chance he might be gone.

I disagree with this interpretation.  If they had already decided to keep him, they'd want to reinstate him as soon as possible so that he doesn't miss any more practice time.  Waiting to announce the decision suggests they need time to work out the logistics of replacing him.

That said, it still seems highly unlikely that they will fire him.  I give it about a 10% chance he's fired.

This is total guessing and speculation on my part, but here is my take ...

If they know when the results will be revealed, then they already have the results. If he was being fired, why wait? They could fire him the moment they realized that was his fate. If they extended the date, it would mean they are truly on the fence and more information was out there to process. The only reason I can think of for why you would delay an announcement while already knowing the results of the investigation, is that you want to appear to have done a thorough investigation so that you catch less shit when you announce that he's reinstated.

Total guess.

You all are completely misinterpreting things here. It's not trivial to come up with the hush money Zach Smith is requesting without leaving a paper trail.

We should make an MGoBlog pact. If he's fired, post away, ad nauseum. If he keeps his job, let's move on. No posts. We have other things to talk about at this point besides Urban Meyer.

Yeah. Coming in right on 14 days makes it look like a) rubber stamp to get Urban back on the field asap, and b) Drake just said that yesterday as a calculated move to ward off criticism about rushing it. "Hey, I said it would take as long as needed. It just happened to be super quick."

Well, I guess all I can hope for is justice to be done. If it isn't, I hope that something comes out later after they make their foolish decisions on what to do with Urban and Smith. I hope someone keeps digging and slams them after the fact. That would be so great it's unreal just to think about! I also hope something is done about that police department and the officers that handled the situations. Those pictures aren't fake and I wonder if a good attorney couldn't go after them and the university for all sorts of damage. Does that attorney have the balls though? Or if it's a woman, I don't know what she would have to possess. Maybe a sports bra.

Have they even interviewed Meyer?  Have not heard any reports indicating he met with them......not that he would tell the truth anyway.

Since we all know Meyer was never going to be fired I could have saved OSU a ton of money. I would have done the “investigation” for a cool $100,000.

Is it just me or does anyone else want to get this McMurphy Guy a house in East Lansing when he’s done raking the state of Ohio over the coals.

I love this guy!!  Just think of the stuff he’d turn up with Dantoni and Izzle.....

I think the LSJ had something but might have decided not to print it in exchange for a finders fee from MSU. That is speculation, but it's based on my next door neighbor who's involved in MSU's program and no longer feels like they are going to be hammered by something from the LSJ. I'd be very stoaked if a LSJ reporter did the right thing and made a handoff to ESPN.

Just get ready for an announcement around next Wednesday that the work group recommended and the board agrees that there is no cause to fire Meyer from this, but that the workgroup did uncover some other areas of potential concern and that the board has authorized a more in-depth long term investigation into Meyer's overall conduct. The pending more broad investigation will have the effect of tempering outrage at his reinstatement.

In the interim he will be reinstated fully to the team, the media will eventually lose focus on the fact that there is a follow on investigation, and any actual good intentions by the work group and investigative team will eventually be undone as the follow on investigation dies at some later date due to an administrative stamp rejecting further funding.

This smelled like a three game suspension before and could even reduce to one on the outside.  Unfortunately that sham in Cbus only cares about victory on the field, not in life and they're going to do what they can to save Urb's scalp and the atmosphere of tolerance of bad behavior will continue down there.
