Ticket Giveaway for the WMU game

BUMPING SO MORE PEOPLE ARE AWARE - LSA

What: Four 40 yard line tickets to the WMU game on 9/8. I'll give away two pairs of tickets.

Story: These season tickets have been in my family since the 1920s when my grandfather attended Michigan. My Dad - George Martin - also a Michigan alumnus, has attended games since the 1950s. I have gone to games since 1990, but now I live in New York and generally only get out to a single game each year. He is now, unfortunately, living with Alzheimers and can no longer attend games. To celebrate my father and fathers in general, I've decided to donate or gift most of my tickets for the coming years on his behalf. The MGoBlog community will be the recipient of tickets to one of the games each year.

Requirements and Rules:
1) You attend the game with your father OR you are a father and attend with your son or daughter.
2) If you win, you make a donation to NAMI: The National Alliance on Mental Illness, a cause important to my father and our family. Donate whatever you feel comfortable with.
3) Enter by replying on this thread. Deadline is midnight at the end of Friday, August 17th.
4) One entry per person.
5) I'll use a random number generator to pick two winners of two tickets each and announce those winners in the thread at noon on Saturday.
6) Winners will have 24 hours to acknowledge that they see they've won.

I'm not sure the best way to get the tickets to the winners. Please post if you have a good way to do that. Worst case, I'll just post my phone or email and we'll move forward that way.

I'd love to take my 11 year old son to the game. It would be his second time in the Big House. Thank you for your generosity. What a great way to acknowledge your father and his love of Michigan football.

Sorry to hear your dad is dealing with Alzheimers, tough to live with and hope that he's of the happy type with Alzheimers. Great way to keep things going in his name.  I enjoy taking my daughter and she loves the game day atmosphere! Thanks to you and your family for doing this as well!

Would love to take my son! We went to the Rutgers game a few years ago, he loved it( we won handily), he is 11 and that was his first and only game. My father left when i was 2 months old, trying to be better than him.

So sorry to hear about your father. Alzheimer's is life-changing disease, and I wish the best for you two and your family going forward.

I've been going to games with him for the past 15 or so years, but that hasn't been possible the past couple years. Regardless of where the tickets go, this is a really generous and thoughtful thing your doing, and that organization looks like it's really worthwhile.

I'd love the tickets.  I have been to numerous games but only one game with my son.  I have never been to one with my daughter so I'd take her if I won.

And I'd love to donate to NAMI as a husband of 20+ years to a wife who has bravely battled manic depression, panic/anxiety disorder and bipolar disorder.  She is on the plus side of the bell curve for survival rates at this point as someone with those 3 conditions.  She is attending her first Michigan game ever, with me, against SMU.  Yes, it took this long to get her out of the house and to feel comfortable being around that many people.

Very nice of you. I already have my tickets for the game.

Re: Ticket transfer. If you have them on your mgoblue account, you can easily transfer them just with a person's email address. It happens automatically and they get tickets to print out.

This would be awesome. My father in law was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease (more specifically primary progressive aphasia) about 3 years ago. We have been going to Michigan games for years. Unfortunately, due to the progression of his disease, this is more than likely the last season he will be able to attend games. I wouldn't wish this disease on anyone. I have an incredible amount of empathy to anyone who suffers from, or is directly associated with it...

Would love to take my son to the Big House for a game.  Very sorry about your fathers condition.  I commend you on finding a great way to celebrate/honor your father, raise awareness concerning the disease and raise funds to help others suffering with the disease.  Thank you!

I will be at all home games this year with my wife and father but posting here to say thanks for the gesture and sharing your story. I made a donation to NAMI because it looks like a good cause.

TL;DR I don’t need tickets but donated because it’s a good cause and I hope others will too.

I used to go with my father all the time. Now that hes passed its time I take my step-son since we just moved to Michigan. This is very kind of you to do this.

Would love to take my Dad to this game, lifelong Michigan fan, always wears his camo-block M hat, especially this time of the year, and my step brother went to WMU so this would be sweet on both fronts for him.

I will throw my hat into the ring. We live in the middle of the godforsaken state of Kansas. My 9 year old grandson is a huge Michigan fan and has never seen the Big House. He proudly wears his gear to school-and takes the flack.

My wife and I have long been providers of pediatric health care. We are keenly aware of the issue of mental health-our pediatric population is increasingly at risk.

Blessings to you in your efforts here.

If I am a winner i will take my son who happens to be a WMU grad.

Sorry to hear about your dad. What an amaizing way to honor your dad and grandfather.

If I win, I'll post video of my kids fist fighting each other to determine which one goes.

Love this. Don't enter me because I'm out in NY too and not heading back for that game. But kudos to you for doing this.

Very cool.  I lost my father to Alzheimer's and it's a shitty disease.  I have fond memories tailgating with him and my brother while I was a student at Michigan.  I already have season tickets, but wanted to say good luck with the caring for your father.

I’m planning to go to this game (will either buy tickets or perhaps win some here).  I’m a UM alum and my eldest son is a WMU alum/instructor/PhD student, so I’ll go with him. My youngest son will be at the game as well as a UM freshman, somewhere in the student section.

Thank you very much for this gesture.
