My wife an I recently saw a Journey cover band ("Departure") at a local venue north of Atlanta.  Not only did the singer sound like Steve Perry, he worked the crowd in the same way.  We were on the lawn about 30 yards from the stage and the area around us was packed with middle aged moms singing their lungs out.  Good times.

Guess he couldn't quite make it through retirement with his savings. I imagine he makes a decent amount from royalties, but he's probably accustomed to a fairly pricey lifestyle. Must be nice to make 7 figures putting out some junk like this.

I couldn’t make it through the entire song.  The picture I couldn’t get out of my head was of this song playing in a montage breakup scene of a low budget Mystery Science Theater 3000 movie.

I remember his interview pieces in Journey’s Behind the Music.  The dude could barely talk, and that was 15 or so years ago!

No Erasin this song from my memory....woof

I can understand why he disappeared from public singing for so long, his pipes are definitely not what they were, and those lyrics were brutal.  This was as bad as watching David Lee Roth doing a lounge lizard version of just a gigolo on Letterman after his solo career tanked.

After reading the comments, I am tempted to not listen to that song, and hopefully get some better future new material from Steve Perry.

In the meantime, I am going to crank up Journey's "Stone In Love" - a closet classic from the 80s and one of the most underrated rock songs ever.

Focus on the good times.  Try to remember the times that were good. . . . And I’ll go ahead and order onion rings for the board. They're the best in the state as far as I'm concerned.
