OT: Alabama Gets Additional 2018 Top 250 Recruit
Apparently, Ale Kaho was unable to get into Washington and was just notified of this a few days ago. In the matter of three days, he is at Alabama and practicing.

A player shouldn't be able to sign until he's admitted. Also would love to know the circumstances behind his denied admission.

A Seattle Times story said he had not completed a certain High School course. Washington is a good school and as such has some standards and maybe he decided not to do that course, failed it, or didn't know about it. Alabama doesn't have that stringent of an academic requirements, as said by saban himself.

Georgia also got a 5* from the 2016 class who transferred from Cal. He was cleared to play immediately. Rich gets richer

We got a five star from 2016 too, except ours is better.

Ah, I heard the rumor that somebody on the coaching staff at Bama used to be at Washington, and ended up poaching him.

Good for Alabama. They needed that.

I was worried that a team or two might be able to stay within single digits of Alabama. Glad they are fixing their problems.

Yes, the truly needy.
I'm going to try to avoid watching Bama opening weekend. It really gets old watching them in their first game and you already know by halftime they're going all the way. Even if they don't win the SEC. Even if they lose in November. Makes no difference.
This got old long ago.

Bama plays by a different set of rules than anyone else, that’s what’s getting old..

Interesting, because last I heard UW granted him a release so that he could be closer to family.
“His family was really adamant that he needs to — he’s going through some stuff and he needs to be close to his family,” Petersen said Monday. “And we get that. You’ve got to do the right thing. We wish him the best.”

Yeah, it's weird he'd then go to UAlabama, which thanks to me rudimentary knowledge of the US map tells me is farther away than Seattle.

His hometown is Reno, Nevada which is 705 miles from Seattle. However, it is only 2,240 miles from Tuscaloosa. So glad he is closer to his family.
Seattle Times story says that he didn't get admission as he still needed to complete one more HIGH SCHOOL course. I also hear that Alabama has a good engineering school to boot!

Alabama is not that far from Nevada ?
August 11th, 2018 at 9:52 PM ^
With all that extra money he will make at Alabama, I'm sure he will be able to afford multiple plane tickets to/from Reno.
August 11th, 2018 at 10:23 PM ^
2,240 by road. About 1800 in a straight line.

He’s known for sometime. Dude has family issues and requested a release awhile ago. Parents divorcing, grandparents have some sickness etc. but what’s interesting is he lives in Nevada and as soon as Peterson agreed to 100% release he goes to Bama! He’s on campus already practicing w them.

No No No you're misunderstanding, this is BAMA. They moved his ENTIRE family, friends, neighbors, and favorite barber to Tuscaloosa.
He is definitely closer to them now.

Did Alabama clear some additional cap room space that they didn’t have on signing day?
August 11th, 2018 at 10:00 PM ^
So people recruit well past National Signing Day.
August 11th, 2018 at 10:29 PM ^
A couple of weeks ago Michigan offered a Navy commit who never signed. He committed to UCLA (naturally). I can't remember the last time we had been involved in a recruitment that late, but it does happen.

Yeah they put one of their 4.5 stars on LTIR.
August 11th, 2018 at 10:05 PM ^
He missed his family so much, he went straight to Bama from Washington.
August 11th, 2018 at 10:45 PM ^
I saw this when it was announced. You feel for the kid until he goes to Bama. Then you realize a lot of what’s said is BS. Too bad.
August 11th, 2018 at 10:47 PM ^
Couldn't get into Washington, but will still probably manage to raise Alabama's academic profile.
August 11th, 2018 at 11:37 PM ^
So could my pet iguana Maizey!
August 11th, 2018 at 11:54 PM ^
Wasn't he granted release from Washington due to family issues and personal reasons? Based off of what I've heard, he lied his ass off to get from Washington to Bama
August 12th, 2018 at 8:57 AM ^
'Crutin! I guess Washington bagmen are really lame.

The rich get richer.....

Valid point.
