In the end, the only things that matters to those bald nuts down south is winning football games. They don’t care if any woman gets beat.

People should wait for the results of the investigation before taking a "side."  Of course, Finebaum's living is from people watching his show so I guess there's a monetary incentive to have a hard stance.

But already convicting Urban before the facts are known is just as bad as the people blindly supporting him.

Fact: urban Meyer is in a position where it is his job to lead the program, including knowing when his staff are beating their wives and not tolerating that shit whether the wife presses charges or not.

Fact: there is enough evidence to exceed plausible deniability that Smith beat his wife

That's all the facts that matter. Hope he burns.

You people are so ridiculous. Best case scenario, Meyer lied nine times at media day, clearly and directly, breaking his own first rule of honesty. To make it worse, he was lying about his own second rule of treating women with respect.

I get that OSU fans are justifying their trophy lust with whatever mental gymnastics are required. I get that you feel better just labeling Courtney as a crazy bitch than actually thinking through what kind of person stays in that toxic relationship and manhandles his wife, even if he didn’t “hit” her. And I get that you think your football coach, who stakes his own reputation on two principles he happily abandoned at media day, has no responsibility to act when a role model for his players is continually engaging in a destructive and abusive relationship. Whatever it takes to win.

But gosh, you sure are dumb. Because even in the best possible case scenario for Urban, he lied and attempted to minimize an issue on which he hangs his hat. If you want to pretend that’s not a big deal and that he’s a coach with supporting, go ahead. But just be honest that the only reason you’re supporting him is because he’s a damn good football coach. If you really think that anyone believes in your self deluded self righteousness, you truly are one of the dumbest human beings on the planet.

They may keep him on as coach and they may win a lot more games and they will think they are winning. But really in the eyes of just about everyone that's not a fan of OSU footbaw they have already proven themselves to be losers. The lengths to which they are willing to twist the facts and create silly straw men resembles a shameless attorney or scumball politician. Not a good look Ohio State. Urban is a loser and so are you for defending him. I hope he comes back and Michigan kicks OSU's ass up and down the field in November.

Did he keep Smith on staff after two offenses of criminal trespassing, one of which he was arrested for?  A matter still in the hands of the courts. And in Ohio they take it pretty serious, punishment ranges from 30 days in jail to 6 months.

Like you are? You've been posting here since this shit show started...

Urban is a POS. Has been forever. You know his MO from Florida. You also know OSU isn't going to fire the guy because for them it's all about the Ws.

I hate Finebaum also, but jeez dude, get a grip. If Urban Liar was 3-3 against us you'd be calling for his firing over this too.

Which of those idiots from the "rally" were you?

BTW, you might consider changing your name...especially considering the whole "I care about women and abhor DV thing...oh...what?

Nevermind.

What investigation you need? See the texts and he was still employed. The investigation is only going to confirm if he reported up. Even if he reported to Title IX office, I ask you why he kept him in the job for three additional years. Do you need a Title IX office to decide This? Common sense is all you need.

We already know the following facts:

1) Meyer knew of Smith's abuse in 2009 - he admitted this.

2) Meyer knew of Smith's abuse in 2015 - he also admitted this.

3) Meyer, in spite of this knowledge, kept Smith on his staff and even promoted him.

4) Meyer lied about all this on Media Day - also by his own admission.

All we're really waiting for is whether or not he did the legal minimum in 2015 and reported Smith to his superiors.  That may change whether or not he is fired with cause.  It doesn't change the fundamental issue, which is that he turned a blind eye to Smith for a decade.

No investigation is going to justify hiring Smith and retaining him through all of his actions, only to  fire him immediately after McMurphy published his story. No investigation is going to explain away his hypocrisy. No investigation is going to justify his performance at the press conferences. He's admitted that.

OSU's investigation is about one thing. Support firing Meyer with cause to save $$. Going through a serious process with that committee helps protect them from litigation and protests from Meyer's supporters.

It only takes a phone call to find out if Meyer had been filing Title IX reports on Smith. Do you place him on leave if it appears he's in compliance with his contract and you want to keep him?

Do we expect the committee to investigate what was behind Smith's claim that he could take everyone down with him? That's me making a joke. Two weeks is enough time to document failure to do mandatory reporting.

I believe that this is the correct take.  As you say, OSU already knows whether Meyer reported Smith to the Title IX coordinator, and, if he did, Meyer would not be on leave.  The investigation is a wise way of spending money now to save a lot more money on litigation after Meyer is fired for cause.

Here you are wrong regarding the facts. In abuse cases like this the facts are always worse than we will ever know...that's ALWAYS...got it. Playing loose with "allegations" and "innocent until proven guilty" in these matters is a definition of evil. Here our usually excellent system of justice makes the victim guilty until proven innocent and protects hideous abusers-that is "fact". There is plenty of "gray area" in cases of these sorts but the "facts" are not one of them.

Are you either stupid or naive enough to believe that urbz's wife, who I believe is a nurse, didn't tell him, "Hey, one of your assistants is beating his", seriously???

Or shall we wait for her carefully scripted press conference where she takes the fall for not telling him???  GTFO!!!

That would be the case if this was a stand alone incident, but he has a trail of bloodied women(and men) following him all the way back to Florida.

His own prior statements confirm his lack of compliance off the field...2 years ago he even tweeted that he doesn't care about reporting shit, that he is just here to coach.

Damn, Heywood, I am sick of your shit. The facts ARE known. Your concern-trolling is a thinly veiled attack on #metoo. Who knows why you're so against it and I really don't give a damn. Zach Smith abused Courtney Smith and Urban Meyer knew about it and did nothing.

The Claw

August 7th, 2018 at 9:44 AM ^

He knew in 2009. They couseled the Smiths. Then again he knew in 2013 and told the university. He's admitted both.

So how many times does a person get to beat the shit out of their with before they are fired?

And as the boss, how many times does he get to look the other way and not do a damn thing about it?

That's what this is about. You have a moral obligation to fire and report such behavior, as well as as protecting OSU because this is a business they are running and there are rules and regulations that must be followed. So Urban failed in both avenues. Get a clue.

Pete Finebaum says something bad about Michigan...we hate him.

Paul Finebaum says something bad about OSU...we like him?

Man this is like the 15th Urban Meyer thread in the last week, but I did click on it and comment so I'm contributing to the problem. I also clicked on a Kardashian article on Yahoo! today so it's official that I will click on anything.

I'm firmly in the don't care what Pete has to say camp though.

Two things I'm having a hard time with:

1) Everyone is so focused on Urban's hypocrisy with core value #2 (Treat Women With Respect) that they're totally overlooking core value #1 (Honesty). He's in clear violation of both of HIS top two core values.

2) How is Urban Meyer's book titled Above the Line: Lessons in Leadership and Life from a Championship Program (yeah, seriously) still sitting at an average of 4.7 stars on Amazon? Something tells me this rating is due for a major plunge.

People that bought and read it may have already plunged it into the trash. I remember when evidence came out that Barry Bonds used steroids. I had a ticket from the game that he hit his 500th HR. The stadium was roaring that night. I still remember what Ted Robinson, the radio announcer said, "There it goes, high into the San Francisco night!". I had kept the ticket. But the next time I saw it, I threw it away.

This whole thing is bringing back memories of Urban Meyer at Florida. His image is probably in most people's mental trash.
