Mike Bianchi's use of "pablum" to describe Urban's response is perfect.   I will forever link that word with Urban Meyer's pathetic attempt to steer the narrative.

When you're "caught off guard" and your first instinct is to lie your ass off, you might be urban meyer.

If you are "caught off guard" by a question at a media day press conference about a national news story where you had just fired a guy less than a week before - you might be Urban Meyer.

If you actually believe that Urban Meyer was caught off guard and "misspoke" false statements to NINE different questions unintentionally - then you are for sure a Buckeye.

I don't think the facts are really that hard to ascertain in this case once you look past all the rhetoric. Meyer (and others at OSU) knew this stuff for years, did nothing while hiding behind all kinds of mumbo jumbo to justify in their heads that it's OK not to do anything. You can't get around the fact that in order to do this they had to think that what Smith did wasn't all that bad. I don't think anything in Meyer's reaction indicated that there was any sort of conflict going on in his head. The idea that Meyer thinks a bit of wife-beating isn't that big a deal is staring you in the face, and if OSU retains him they're gonna have to deal with that for good because there's no way to scrub this off.
