OT: West MI Whitecaps: best/worst name change ever? You decide
The West Michigan Whitecaps see your ridiculous name change IHOB (IHOP?), and say "HOLD MY BEER..." Literally.
To celebrate Grand Rapids being named "Best Beer Scene" by USA Today's 10Best.com, for its' 80+ breweries, the Whitecaps will change their name for Saturday August 4 to... The Beer City Bung Hammers. 
I can't decide if this is a really, really bad idea or SUPER DELIGHTFUL, but I, for one, will NOT miss the opportunity to get in on some of the fantastic merch being offered. Guaranteed to be collectors' items for years to come.
They can hammer my bung hole. Wait, that came out wrong... Or did it???

Based on that, I'd say worst.

Oakland University going to the Golden Grizzlies was stupid. I get that Pioneers was on the lightweight side, but how the eff do you look around the greater Rochester and Auburn Hills area and come up with Golden Grizzlies?

Jacksonville recently changed their name from "Suns" to "Jumbo Shrimp" permanently for their AA team (Marlins affiliate). While, at first it was laughed at and mocked, now most people have embraced it and they are killing it in attendance.
It's the best.

What I am hearing, upon the googling of this term, is that if you are the victim of a leaky bung, someone is not hammering it hard enough to plug it up all the way.
If you've sprung a leak, my concern is that perhaps your bung has been hammered a bit TOO hard, or maybe too often.
It's a one day thing. No big deal.

Yes, it's only minor league baseball. But WTF - surely there is a borderline legit meaning somewhere? Is this what they call the cork in the old wooden kegs or something? I don't want to Google it.
This reminds me of the TV "Brockmire". Hank Azaria plays an alcoholic baseball play by play announcer stuck in the minor leagues, with a lot of drinking, sexual hijinks, and overall hilarity ensuing. I highly recommend it.
The only problem is that it's only shown on IFC; however I did see that it was coming to AMC Premiere, whatever that is.
No Idea what the fuck a bung hammer is, but this is easily the best name for a sports team I have ever heard. Consider me a fan of the Bung Hammers.

This is the same team that recently had a "Millennial Night" and the first 1000 fans through the door got a participation trophy. Additionally, there was a "best manbun" contest, and selfie stations scattered throughout the park.
Go ahead, spend your money. That's what they're doing this for. In five years most teams will change their name several times in a season for just a game just to cash in.
