NYT-OSU wrestling scandal now has 100 victims coming forward
When it rains it pours.
The Big Ten East has become a cesspool of scandal. PSU, MSU, Rutgers, and now OSU. Never could have imagined we would be here a decade ago.
I hate how easy it makes it for SEC coaches to negatively recruit against B1G teams. "Up there? Oh, they have all kinds of problems with cheating and sex crimes." I wouldn't be surprised if that worked on parents.
Jim Jordan is already using his position to discredit them. My hope is that the Urban Meyer fiasco doesn't further eclipse the fact that these victims deserve to be heard, believed, taken seriously, and given justice for what they've gone through.
No way you can discredit 100 people. I hope this blows up in Jim Jordans face , big time .
It won't. His district (which is about a half mile away from me, and I am ever thankful for every inch of that) is pretty solidly R. I think he won his last race by about 35 points and this year is a rematch of that race. Ohio gerrymandered its districts so effectively that there hasn't been a seat flip since the districts were drawn, even with pretty solid swings in both directions in 2012 and 2014. So Jordan is probably safe unless he gets indicted, and even then he'd probably have to lose a primary.
I wonder if this in any way a reaction to this story?
In a nutshell, Jordan is putting pressure on former head coach to get wrestlers to recant. The coach was quoted telling one wrestler he will support Jordan until he's put under oath. It's an ugly story getting uglier.
Absolutely disgusting! That doctor deserves to rot in hell. I hope those that helped cover up his actions have their complicity exposed and punished accordingly. Terrible!
Article says he committed suicide in 2005.
Correct. Hence "in hell" and not in a jail cell. But, I guess that thinking also depends on one's religious/after life beliefs. Either way, he needs to rot.
Fuck OSU.
At what point does LOIC come into play? This has gotten ridiculous.
The same day it does for Staee
It's a thin line, but when you consider the AD hasn't changed but he has presided of two football coaches that seemingly ran things behind closed doors, the argument of LOIC at least has some grounds for discussion. I think the NCAA is a feckless giant driven by old boys' money. They won't pick on a giant for something like LOIC. Heck, even Baylor was skimmed over for that. Only one school faced the harshest penalty and it hasn't been threatened since. How involved in Nassar has the NCAA been? I think that is the benchmark for OSU.
What is LOIC? Will you please translate for the layman?
Never mind. Lack of Institutional Control. Got it.
The final nail in the coffin for Gene Smith?

Not sure how the sexual assault case is on Gene Smith. All the incidents occured in late 70s to mid 90s, before Smith or anyone at OSU's time.
Burn it the fuck down.
