5 Star 2019 DE Zach Harrison Delays Decision Indefinitely

Submitted by Caesar on

Introduction

For those who don't know, Harrison is a top 4 overall recruit on the 247 composite. Background info:

Summary

Here's a ink to the article.

  • Same finalists. In addition to delaying indefinitely, he also confirms finalists are the good guys, OSU, and PSU.
  • Original source. Article is derived from an interview with Clay Hall of WSYX-TV in Columbus on Monday.

Some Thoughts

  • Not great for OSU; unknown for Michigan. This isn't necessarily good for Michigan, but at the very least, it's not great for Ohio State. The reason it's not necessarily good for Michigan is that it could mean Penn State has made some headway. In previous interviews, Penn State was seen as the 'compromise' school between him and his parents.
  • Done with visits? There is no mention about whether he is making more visits; in the above-linked post, he said he's not, and to the best of my knowledge he wasn't at Michigan's BBQ.
  • The Season, The Season, The Season. The longer this goes, I have to think the more important Michigan's performance this season becomes, and I wonder if guys like him and Dax Hill are sort of waiting to see how Michigan performs this year.
  • I don't think he's trolling Michigan. In the first place, Michigan could finish its recruiting at DE and probably be fine, so there's not a huge benefit for another program to have Harrison do this. Second, in his last interview, Harrison pretty much said that he has finished with fact-finding, so I'm not sure that coaches can really expend a ton more resources on him even if they wanted to. Finally, he's not an attention-seeking guy; there are very few interviews with him out there. I think this is genuine introspection.

He's created at least 3 new accounts in the last couple of days. This one is now basically the same as his previous MineralKing persona. Prob his true nature. He has an older account as well which I have a pretty good idea who it is but..

** If the powers that be would implement the show ( on mouse over ) who upvoted or downvoted feature it would go a long way towards identifying and removing trolls.

Here are the known troll accounts ( not including the recent ones or lesser used )

This is the clearest report on Brandon Peters/Dylan McCaffrey that I've heard. Nothing I've seen the last 2 months was this clear. Have you seen a report with this much clarity?

And it leads me again to this question: Where could this leave Brandon Peters? Will he transfer?

Mineral King July 4th, 2018 at 5:26 PM
Two months ago when I said BP would be gone after this year and DCaff would be a 3 year starter everyone acted like I was just talking shit.

Also SkyPanther = It's Always Marcia

Yep, I knew that. May 23, 6 whole weeks ago.

No, not really.

Then he tried to tie his account to Shea Patterson

Bye Shea. Jk....I think....

I jokingly once said I thought MK was Shea Patterson. I really think there is little chance that it is. The tiny chance it is makes it so much more interesting though.

I would agree with this statement. He/she has been one of the most mysterious posters I’ve ever seen on here.

I don't care if there are trolls but when their mission is to cause problems ( like posting all the negative stuff about Brandon Peters and transfer rumors ) then I will take the time to out them.

I could enumerate everything that shows that the accounts are related but that would only help you create more troll accounts in the future. It could be more than one person but there is no doubt that the accounts were all created for the same reason. See the post above post by That.Guy that  shows a quick mistake you made in grammar switching between accounts.

Jesus I read all of this useless shit and people on here lament the politics and the AWOL Brian? This perseverance on multiple accounts and having and using the time to track/prove it....man I wish I had so little to do.

To play along....TIMMAY is always jumping on WD hate. They must be the alter ego of one another. And yet I don’t really know or truly care. This place has sucked a bag of dicks for too long.

The longer this goes on the better it will be for Michigan. Hopefully he is just waiting as long as he can do he doesnt have to live in Columbus while being committed to Michigan

If true, this is the best possible hope for M.

The longer he delays, the greater chance he could come to M:  Because that means less time living in Ohio, less time to be persecuted by Ohioans, less time for his parents to be pressured by neighbors in Ohio, etc., after committing to M.

As OP states, delay doesn't necessarily mean he's leaning to M--but delay's our best hope.

I'll take it.

Much better would be an announcement that he would decide after his season.

Harrison, like a lot of recruits, said he wanted to decide before his season started so he could focus on playing football. I'm hoping this delay soon extends into waiting until his season ends for the same stated reason.

While it's hard to know what this announcement means, there's no reason to delay if he wants to go to OSU.

If your going to commit to Michigan or Penn State and you live in Columbus why do it before the season and deal with all the local idiots for all of your senior year football season.  We need to have a great year. Having Gary and Chase dominate would also help.

It's not even close though.  Have you been to Columbus?  At least Lansing is in the state of Michigan and residents not associated with the University aren't overwhelmingly partisan towards MSU (per facebook like data as of 2014, EL zip codes were only partisan towards MSU by a ratio of less than 5:1 (between 15 and 20 percent of residents "liked" UM football).  In Columbus area, it's OSU by a ratio of about 25:1, which is a huge difference.  You have allies as an M fan in EL.  There are enough fans there that it isn't cult-like.  Not the case in Columbus. It's OSU or literally GTFO.

Plus, OSU football fans are even more toxic and "fanatical" than MSU basketball fans.

Yep. Even more, if I were a recruit ranked that highly, I wouldn't ever sign an LOI. Those really screw the player imo, plus depending on early enrollment you may still have to put up with local crap for a while before you leave. I would tell whichever team that I was coming, but I don't see a need for a kid this highly ranked to give the schools anything.

Excellent post and great acknowledgement from those who recognize the difference.  11W simply states the facts which includes that Zach would be OSU's highest rated recruit in the Meyer era-- so it's a huge miss if they whiff, especially if the outcome is Michigan.   Zach clearly has a good feeling for the Michigan culture and its people.  You just hope the team shows what that means on the field this season.

 Good stuff OP.

My completely biased take rife with assumption based on all previous public information and a complete lack of inside information:

Zach loves the coaches and players at Michigan. His family and his entire community hates Michigan.  He does not want to go to UM at he moment and be looked like a joke by his family, peers and community ( because the media will have you believe that Harbaugh and Michigan are a joke that will never finish higher than third in the B1G East).  He hopes and believes that the hype and buzz around this year’s Michigan football team proves to be legit.  After Michigan demonstrates some dominance on the field,  he will be committing to a powerhouse - haters can hate all they want.

Good luck to him wherever he decides to go, he will be a great one.

If Rashan and Chase have great seasons (hint: they will) and the defense is dynamic and dominant, he won't be able to resist the winged helmet.  Go Blue, big fella.
