How much do we need to raise on GoFundMe to get the Athletic Department to quit whoring out the coaching titles?
I could barely even get past the damn titles of Warde and Beilein in the extension story.
Its freaking sickening that we cant call our coaches just freaking coaches.
Im seriously developing a healthy hatred in my heart for the egotistical a-holes who shelled out the money to ruin the damn titles. Screw you Donald Shepard, David and Meridith Kaplan, and especially J. Ira and Nikki Harris.
And screw the athletic department for selling out.
Get off my lawn rant over. Let the invisible meaningless negs commence.
Lmao I share the same feelings but not quite that extreme...
Endowed positions are a good thing that helps the athletic department. Skip over the title if you don’t like it.
It’s only listed on MGoBlue and press releases. It’s not that big a deal.
Being well-endowed is a nice problem to have.
....some would say you can not be well endowed enough, JV may agree!
That's what she said!
I feel bad for people who get bothered by this stuff.
I find it annoying, but would I pay my own money to make it go away? Lemme think...
That was the point of GoFundMe. So other people would pay for it to stop.
I would only contribute if I was acknowledged for it frequently.
Well no one has brought up the white elephant in the room so I might as well; who are we going to name the Gofundme fund after?
Easy. Bruce Wayne
Why don’t you take real action to show how displeased you are with Michigan athletics? Since you don’t actually want to put your money where your mouth is, you could start by boycotting mgoblog.
It is totally fine with me. I don’t see anything wrong with. Who are these donors hurintg? No one. But they are savings UM, fans and tax payers a lot of money.
I suggest that you find a different cause to fund.
Oh Yeah? So season ticket prices went down this off season?
Oh Yeah? So season ticket prices went down this off season?
No they did not, however, if there were no endowed coaches/AD, the Athletic Department would need to make up that money in their budget elsewhere by either raising prices or cutting some expenses or programs.
Now can you get over it and I do not believe you are Batman!
Yeah, because the program was financially falling apart before we started whoring out the titles.
So you are saying that if the money provided by these donors were to disappear, somehow through some magic beans they will be replaced out of thin air? Makes sense.
Yeah by gofundme... duh /s
didnt catwomen just dump you at the alter? thats why you are mad
What? Say again?
The Charles Manson Family Head Coach Rich Rodriguez...has a nice thing to it
This one actually makes sense. After all, neither of them could mount an effective defense.
Wow. This may be the best comment on this blog since we went to 3.0. Well played.
Lol why do I still even come here
Been asking myself that same question since the site downgrade.
Ive enjoyed the new site. Not a single public jerk off session over the new Nike line, or threads about the new Arbys cups yet. MAJOR improvement,
*I've. If you could actually edit things, you could fix that.
I can post Nike threads whenever I want, by the way.
So can you other 32 handles.
Who downvoted this? Millenials?
Sorry but this thread is worse than those. You're literally bitching just to bitch. It's a title, who the hell cares?
The Charles Manson Family Head Coach Rich Rodriguez...has a nice ring to it
You are DEFINITELY not batman.
Bruce Wayne always puts his name on endowments and childrens wings in hospitals and shit like that.
I put the Wayne name on endowments and orphanages. Not coaching titles.
....that must be for your sissy, girly endowments!
This rant is brought to you by Wayne Enterprises of Gotham City
GoFundMe Michigan Men's Head Coach
I don't know, but I'm definitely thinking about springing for naming rights for MGoBlog 3.0
Keep the advertising out of the Big House and limit price increases on my season tickets. Endow like the wind. I just call the man Coach Harbaugh.
Naming rights are for narcissists. You should extend your rage to all of the buildings with purchased names.
The naming right discussion and how it relates to our HC's is an interesting topic though considering everything going on of late with Papa John's.
Of all the people to hate and denigrate in the entire world, the OP chooses those who freely give generously to something that we individually and collectively treasure in our lives. I feel sorry for you, OP.
I feel sorry for people who feel the need to project their self righteous pity on others.
If they were given freely and generously they would have done it anonymously. All they did was stroke their egos by making sure every person in the fan base knew their name.
I agree wholeheartedly. Who negs this.
Because it allows the person the leave something behind as a legacy. People with a lot of money tend to want to build things and leave a mark before they pass - so do all people but they may not have the means to do so. Do you have an issue with Mott Children's Hospital being named after C.S. Mott? You realize that many of the things built on campus carry the names of donors, right? Giving anonymously is a beautiful thing, but so is giving even when something is named in honor of the donor. I'm grateful for their support of something I love. Michigan athletics and academics would not be where they are without the support of wealthy alumni and supporters.
Real legacy is earned not purchased.
Capitalism would suggest that C.S. Mott earned his dollars.
He earned every penny. And donated much of it to a cause that will live on far past his days on earth. Sounds to me like he earned his legacy. Go away with your self righteous class warfare BS.
Of course one of the resident no politics whiners is escalating this to class warfare.
My comment wasn't specific to Mott (though I did leave that interpretation open). The sentiment I intended: legacy is the balance of what you do, not what you buy. Philanthropy can certainly be part of what you do.
In terms of how this relates to the thread: I wouldn't call the vain purchasing of football coach naming rights philanthropy.
OP is jealous.
