Former Target Bryan Addison not admitted to UCLA

Submitted by TheTeamTheTeam… on

Seems as though UCLA admissions is either dragging their feet or possibly a little inept? There is an article on 247Sports detailing the situation (with a lack of detail on what happened with UCLA other than it has been 5-6 weeks since he’s heard from them and he doesn’t want to fall behind) but seems he has been cleared to be accepted at Oregon, USC, and Nebraska among others. I know he was pretty high on Michigan at one point but he doesn’t mention us in schools he’s looking at. I think we would be able to find room for a 6-5 200lb ATH.

Supposedly it was a red flag with the SAT and it was the college board that raised it.  Doesn't excuse UCLA's admissions department dragging its feet but given the cause of the issue Michigan is probably wise to let this one go.

UCLA admissions is notorious for stuff like this, but it's also not their job to enable the football team.  That said, UCLA has had an insanely hard time recruiting kids out of Serra and this is not going to help them one bit in the future.

There has to be more to the story than UCLA dragging their heels. Either he needed to attend summer school to meet their requirements or there is a suspected irregularity. If the latter, those other schools will give his admission a closer look too.

Never heard of him, and he doesn't show up in a general search on 247. He's also not listed as a Michigan ATH offer for 2019, or for 2020 if that's his year.

I'm guessing there is more to the story, but I can't imagine why they couldn't have given him a decision by now. Not coming from a football perspective, but from the perspective of a kid just trying to figure out where he's going to school and spending the next three to four years of his life. And he's got less than a month to get that all figured out.

Don't even make this about football. Just give him a verdict, accepted or not, and let him move on with his life. I'd like to think he's owed at least that much.

He was released from his UCLA scholarship this morning. He's a good kid. His family is a mess. Needs to go away to school.

Like a couple other people, I don't remember this name ever coming up on any Michigan list, but then so many names come up when we talk recruiting that it is nearly impossible to keep track.

In any case, there has to be more than slow response on the part of UCLA here. I would be intrigued to hear the entire story.

Lorenz was touting this kid as Michigan's top safety target last year for a long time. If you've never heard of him then you probably don't pay close enough attention to recruiting.

He had his OV for the MSU game, so that part of it wasn’t great.  Also pretty sure Sam said something about nobody (parents, uncle, etc) coming with him on the visit. Didn’t hear much about him after that.
