Can we please stop with the politics?
Can we please stop with the politics. This site is getting ridiculous. I’m not talking about the front page stuff from Brian, I’m talking about the blatant political talk by so many people in many of these threads. I don’t care how you feel politically and I’m getting sick of being subjected to seeing this in a good chunk of threads. The subtle interjection by some to try and say how they feel is pathetic. This is a call for the mods to please start banning people who have to run their mouths about their political beliefs. At the very least please start a separate area for political conversation so the people who can’t help themselves can go there. Be kind to each other everyone and stop putting your angry comments in threads to try and get your point across. The vast majority of us don’t come here. Better idea, have an open mind and talk with friends about it, not random internet people. PLEASE STOP RUINING THE BLOG I LOVE!
Make this your upvote / downvote post. I don’t care, I’m sick of it.
AMEN! Take the political bullshit elsewhere. The new site is bad enough, don’t make it worse by spewing political nonsense.
Commenters interjecting politics very liberally lately.
Not helping.
What are you, some kind of communist? Am I supposed to help you? Pull yourself up by your bootstraps and stop political commentary on your own!
Thanks, Obama!
/s
It will trickle down on its own.
we need a final solution to the political stain on our pure sporp blogs.
Bloggers of the world UNITE!
Where are Hotel Putingrad and Communist Football? Isn't every action a political action?
We have better things to do.
Comments like these make me upset I can't upvote. Sorry buddy.
Hey watch the AMEN. No religion either I hear
Downvoted because of the lame teaser title. Any title with an ellipsis is terrible. If the title is actually informative, people can avoid the topics they don’t like.
A rule on par with no politics, which you chose to blatantly disregard.
Interesting...
I like the "tilde" ~...
There are...
many criteria for a title to be characterized as a lame teaser. I wouldn't think the presence of an ellipsis is tops on the list,
Also ending sentences with commas,
That's not the point. The point is there is a rule on this board of no politics. However, the mods give silent consent by posting front page political columns. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I just don't want it on my sports page. I come here to escape that, now it's even permeating here.
This is a blog of people, not rules. Our Founding Father set it up this way for a reason.
MGoBlog, love it or leave it!
I was here before you, so I own it more. I am an mgoblogger, you're a reader of some other blog and will always remain so. You think you can come through our porous registration page and insidiously change our blog!? Go back to your own blog!
Ive been here as long as you buddy. There are rules, and yes, no politics is one of them.
Joined date says 12/19/2017. Were you here as an unregistered alien before that?
The founding fathers put rules in place to keep this website secure. However, for the rules to work, the mods that represent us must use these rules. If the current moderating body is too scared of their user base to hold the current administration accountable for its many egregious violations of blog law, then the whole thing just falls apart.
Not to mention, voting on these posts has been tampered with. It is clear that our voting system has been compromised. It doesn't really look like the current administration of this site is doing anything to protect our liberties.
Also, will you guys stand up for the Muppet Hawaiian War Anthem?!? This is MGoBlog! Love it or leave it!
Brian is the OWNER, not a mod.
a huge, HUGE difference.
As owner, isn't he basically mega-mod?
(sidenote: GIS for megamod gives you a bunch of 3D semi-truck mods; searching for megamoderator returns a bunch of firearms/assault rifle images. So yeah)
Your sports page? Are you running the site? Do you pay to use it?
I wish I could upvote or downvote...
Hotel PutinGrad ruined the voting system!
Ruined like a fox, or bear.
I think it’s just the natural of result of having multiple political posts on the front page. Seems to be another thing that has gone by the wayside along with making tables and editing posts to name a few.
What is this? I don’t like change!
Want to conserve the status quo, do you?
Maybe if the mods moderate a little more?
Yeah, cause their wage is so high.
Why? It's change we can believe in.
It's time to Make MGoBlog Great Again!
We've been sending people to Bolivia all along.
The solution is to not let them cross into the blog in the first place!
But not before we separate them from their children.
IF..... they are even their children.
So I've been gone from the board for the past two or three weeks, can someone explain to me which front-page posts you are referring to?
Brian writing a post to endorse someone for mayor of Ann Arbor:
https://mgoblog.com/content/obligatory-ann-arbor-mayoral-endorsement
Also he did a podcast with a candidate for governor. Jimmies were rustled.
"Multiple political posts on the front page"
Uhh... one in a year during the dead sports period? And a local election post, not something along the much more devisive national party lines. Something with a clear title than very easily could have been avoided.
Here's my problem with politics: People don't talk enough about it in a civilized way, which is why you need a no-politics rule. But Brian's post - which was well argued (even if you don't agree with the argument) - was clearly labeled, you had to click a jump early on to keep reading and if you delved into the comments that was also a choice you made. Most people complaining about the post existing and "ruining where they go to avoid politics" could have just avoided the post.
It's important for people to see opposing viewpoints from time to time. Living in echo-chambers doesn't help civil discourse. But whining about hearing an opposing viewpoint (again, presented in a respectful way), is just that: whining.
If I avoid the post, how am I going to complain about it? Flawed logic. /s
Exactly... It needs to be 100% no politics regardless of poster or what we have now. There was an endorsement for a democrat... that, if anything, produces a political acceptance of that ideology. Once it starts, it will snowball slowly.
No politics please. Keep your Domino Theory out of my blog.
Jesus H. Christ he is right!!! BRIAN IS COMING FOR OUR GUNS!!!
If you don’t think the do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do posts by Brian have a direct cause and effect relationship to the uptick of political posts in the board, I don’t know what to tell you.
A hard, fast, 100% no politics/religion (even from the mods) rule was the smartest thing this board ever enacted.
Can someone point me to a political post since Brian wrote that front page article?
This seems like a hilariously weak straw man argument...
Posts have started no political, and have taken a turn for the worse during the comments. You can’t judge my the thread titles.
I can't point to specific ones, but there have been a number of instances in the past where Brian had political content/narrative aside from the once a year local election stuff. It's his blog, so obviously that's his prerogative, though. As for the rest of us, I agree with the above that the "no politics" rule was the best rule this board ever had, but wish there actually had been a "no religion" rule, as well.
You are right about the blog being "his" but without any of us members the blog would be nothing!
