OT: Wimbledon Qfinals

Submitted by MichiganFan1984 on

Anyone watching? Nshikori and Djokovic tied at a set a piece. Federer up 2 sets to 0 on Andersen. Nadal vs Del Porto and Isner vs Raonic coming up. I’m rooting for Nadal and Isner, besides that I don’t care. I’m not a Federer fan or Djokovic. Who are you rooting for? Who do you think actually wins? I hope everyone is having a good hump day!

Fed just lost set three after winning 34 straight sets at Wimbledon (which was tied for the all-time record).

Had match point on Anderson's serve.  Then was himself broken after being up in the set.  Then failed to break Anderson despite having three break points (0-40).  Mortal after all.

My experience with brackets doesn't go far beyond the NCAA tournament so this may be a dumb question but why is Nadal, the 2 seed, facing Del Potro, the 5 seed in the QF. If a bracket holds to form, shouldn't the highest seed a 2 faces in the last 8 be a 7 seed and the highest a 5 seed can be facing in the QF a 4 seed? Plus wouldn't the 5 seed be in the top half of the draw setting up a potential match up with the 1 seed in the SF?

Once the seeds are named (1-32), they are then sorted into the draw randomly by computer. 1-4 are done first to prevent them from ending up in the same sections of the draw. This is also done for seeds 5-8, then seeds 9-16 and finally 17-32. So you can end up with a quarterfinal of 1 vs 8, but you could also end up with 1 vs 5.

Not a fan of the butt-picker, finger-smeller.  Love his compete level but hate his crude ritual.  Can't imagine a quarterback sticking his fingers in his butt before every snap.  Then again he does stick his hand in his center's crotch when not in the shotgun so there's that.  Or how about a pitcher digging deep before every pitch?

Fed's out so now rooting for the Djoker.

Nadal a slight favorite Friday. Novak has looked better and better. Should be a classic. Agreed stephenrjking, the del Potro match today was excellent.

I have a 4.0 match before work Friday. I'm probably a slight underdog too.

I was lucky enough to attend 3 days of week 1 action. Saw Roger, Rafa, and Djoked on Centre. Just an incredible event if anyone has the chance to go.

Still pretty shocked with the loss from up 2-0. Nadal vs. Djokovic should be an absolute treat coming up though. Not sure Isner or Anderson will be able to hang in the final but love me a good American / South African underdog!
