Duncan Robinson gets a Contract
One year 2 way deal with the Heat. Great news!
Good for him! Hope he sticks.
Congrats Duncan! He worked his ass off for a chance like this. Hope that he kicks ass this year
1) Obviously, this is awesome news.
2) Now, why isn't MAAR getting one of these?
Didn't he just break his foot?
Not "just" but he's still got a good month or so of rehab before he can do anything basketball related.
Awesome. There was actually some speculation another team might step in with a bigger deal as he's been putting on a show offensively and showing he's better at the other stuff than scouts thought.
Cool he'll be with Walton and Spoelstra's a great coach to learn under.
Just curious, what do these types of deals pay?
$75K at least for their G-League time and can net up to $275K total if they spend the 45 day maximum with the NBA club. For context/reference, Walton reached his max daily limit in Miami last year and fellow Heat 2-way player Derrick Jones Jr. -- who shined in summer league before a sprained ankle Sunday -- was eventually given a standard 2-year deal (year 1 guaranteed, year 2 nonguaranteed) late in the year.
Good fit for him. As a Heat fan, it's been fun watching him and Walton both play together in summer league alongside more notable prospects in Bam Adebayo and Derrick Jones Jr. Miami's emphasis on defense and conditioning plus a high value towards shooting could unlock a version of him that sticks. If they resign Wayne Ellington you won't find a better designated shooter to learn from this side of Kyle Korver.
DIII to the NBA. This might be Beilein's best scouting/developmental story ever.
Also, not many Exeter grads make the NBA.
DIIIy DIIIy!
After his performance in Vegas, I was hoping he would get a contract and it turns out that he did, as he should have quite frankly.
Good luck to him.
Great news! He’s earned it.
My guess is he’s still a longshot to get called up to Miami, but he’s still a former D-III player who now has a professional contract in the league. A testament to Robinson working his ass off, as well as Beilein continually finding diamonds in the rough.
Very happy for Duncan but I certainly would have laughed at anyone that would have suggested this was possible in January. Congrats DR!
articularly Ace
Steve Kerr lasted a long time in the league and couldn't guard anyone. Dr is bigger and perhaps a better shooter.
AWESOME
Good for Duncan and well deserved.
iT's too bad he got screwed with the terrible foul calls in the NC game, it would have been nice to have him on the floor.
