OT Coke Zero 400 at Daytona
Shucks, neither link seems to work above and I have no idea how to edit content once its been posted.

Second attempt. I give up if this doesn't work.
But did Michigan win?
As a matter of fact, Erik Jones is from Byron, Michigan. So sorta kinda if you squint, yes.
Crazy race day - thanks for posting the highlights. Good to see the commercial broadcast mixed in with fan photos.
Erik Jones gets hit first Cup win at Daytona. That's got to be cool.
I never understood how one could actually watch NASCAR. I'm sure they're fun social events to go to because you're out drinking all day (or you at least should be), but actually watching the race except for the occasional crash or the last 1-2 laps?
It's literally watching cars turn left all day. Never understood how entertainment could be derived from that.
You want to really have your mind blown, my dad listens to it on the radio. He listens to cars turn left all day.
Racing is like baseball. Its a lot of fun to watch when you are actually at the track.
To each his own.
I'm not a fan of watching races on TV, but I was excited to go to my first race. Completely hated it. Can't imagine going to another one, but can watch it on TV in small doses.
Baseball is better live, but still good on the radio.
Really? I can't even imagine watching it live is all that enjoyable. Like the poster below me said, to each their own, but absolutely nothing about the sport of NASCAR itself seems all that entertaining or redeeming to me.
I see going to NASCAR and a baseball game as more of a social outing than going to actually watch the sport itself. NASCAR even moreso. At least with baseball I'd get invested in watching the game if it was October ball or a Yankees-Red Sox game. With NASCAR, I can't envision myself getting excited to watch it at any time of year or for whatever championship it's for.
I also have a hard time considering NASCAR to even be a sport.
The world would be a boring place if we all liked/disliked the same stuff.
NASCAR is not my cup of tea, generally. I've watched my fair share, but the racing is just not as entertaining. The cars are heavy and lumbering, the technology is stone-aged, the actual on-track action is often pitiful; give me Indy Cars or prototypes any day. F1, too, which has similarly dull on-track action but also has cooler tracks and better technology. I'm also a mark for short-course truck racing.
NASCAR's big advantage in-person is that at most venues you can see most of the track. That is often not possible on road or street courses. And the noise the cars make is pleasing, if oppressively loud. But it is an inferior product in my opinion.
Wow, I put this up for those fans who actually like NASCAR racing. Why you would click on this thread if you don't?
The responses have been pretty benign, at least compared to soccer/NBA threads...
I learned to enjoy NASCAR with my father-in-law, who was a big fan. NASCAR the past few decades is a lot more entertaining because all of the races are close and come down to the last lap. Back in the 1970s it was less competitive with people like Richard Petty and Cale Yarborough winning races by lapping the field.
Thanks for posting this, Elno. It gave me a chance to look at a number of other things you posted on your blog, which I didn't know existed. Enjoyed your Ironworking post and will read others when I get the time.
