OT - Reddit CFB Risk FINAL Update
I would first just like to express my gratitude to everyone who participated in this game over the last few months. It was been quite a grind for us mods. We've had to deal with several moles, switching discord servers, our userbase being nerfed 3 times, and our fair share of adversity along the way, but you all made it more than worthwhile. I especially want to thank the mgoboard and Seth for your support. We don't do nearly as well in this game without you. In fact, we received a lot of flak from other teams for our ability to successfully use mgoblog as a medium for recruitment.
That out of the way, the end results are in. We shattered records in the past week for participation through our orders website. Our previous record was ~4100 weighted star power through the site. We passed 4500 weighted star power on Monday before eclipsing 5000 (!!!) last night. Simply said, you all were amazing.
Your participation was good for a very close 2nd place finish. Our much more powerful ally in terms of star power, Florida, just barely squeaked by us and ended up with a two territory for first. Nebraska placed a distant 2nd with OSU and our allies GT tied for 4th. At the end of it, we had 3 alliance teams place in the top 5, including the top 2 by a decent margin.
Again, thank you all for your participation. You did amazing. If you haven't already, please feel free to join our Discord server. We plan to keep it open during the season and have live chats for games. It will also still be around should there be another iteration of this game next offseason.
Again, thank you all and Go Blue!
Final Map:
You knew UF would win. It just means more.
Go Gators!
Who is the team just below Oklahoma on the rankings? I have been wondering that for days and I'm usually really good with team logos.
Team Chaos -- a team made up of players whose main team was eliminated but they still want to play.
You forgot to mention that we retained control of Ann Arbor and finished with the occupations of Columbus and South Bend!
I was the sole 5-star on Columbus last night, and I have no idea how we got it over all the star power (and defense bonus) they put on it. Go Blue!
Very good point. And Nebraska! Thank you for your participation.
I got what I came for! Sorry, buckeyes.
Is there an animated gif of the map somewhere?
Yes (LINK).
3 of top 6 are from the Big 10. Everybody say it with me, BEE EYE GEE!!! BEE EYE GEE!!!!
Meanwhile, the vaunted SEC tallied only 1 of the top 7. I guess they don’t haz the computers.
It will be the same old story - the SEC does one of its fantastic fades, but yet the diehards will insist that because it is the SEC, it somehow doesn't matter and they are still worlds above you.
If you are not first, you might as well be last.
How close was it last night? In the three-party slaughterfest of Arkansas State last night, we had a probability of .34. Florida had a probability of .27. Florida got it.
That alone would have been enough to tie, despite Florida's advantages in territories and power.
Thank you everyone who participated and happy to see the discord server will be up during the season!
And with that, the reddit app has been deleted! That was fun while it lasted, hopefully they bring it back next year
enjoyed playing the whole game, kinda sad to be done with it now. I hope they start another up with a little different rules in place. good work everyone though, thank you to the ones who organized our attacks, quite impressed with everyone's participation.
Am I remembering wrong or was there a MGoBlog sweetener for following orders and getting MVPs?
One eligible MVP was randomly selected each day to receive 200 mgopoints.
The board feels weird today without an update.
If the game mods decide to nerf UM again next year, I'm ready to boycott. We would have won, hands down, without being nerfed so hard.
