2019 S Daxton Hill says commit announcement is 'soon'

Submitted by Caesar on

As per the Oklahoma native's twitter, the 8th ranked prospect on the 247 composite, who had impressive numbers at The Opening, is looking to commit 'soon.' Isaiah Hole from the Wolverines Wire cites optimism from sources close to Michigan based on some positive Michigan vibes at The Opening.

I personally don't see great signs for a Michigan verbal. As per Hole's article, Hill's last visit to Ann Arbor was an unofficial in March. An OV to National Champion Alabama, which is reportedly pitching him as the next Minkah Fitzpatrick, was his most recent visit in June. CBs are 80% Sooners, 15% OSU (NTOSU), and 7% 'Bama.

I'm always in the skeptics camp, but our D is par excellence in the nation... Sparse safety competition vs say Alabama.  And Okla D Doesn't even compare to ours.   I'd give us a chance here if someone on staff is optimistic.

I think Michigan was hoping to get him on campus one more time before he committed. The fact that he's announcing this early is probably not a good sign.

Trust the pic.  Goon Squad 19 had 8 players in it.  5 of them are committed.  3 left.  Dax Harrison, Dicosmo.   It's a lock.  Counterstrike.  Out.

Whoa...that would be a haul! Hill and Harrison are special talents. I haven't recruited enough to speak definitively-except to say that these kids make decisions in all directions for stated reasons that just leave you shaking your head. I will keep coming back to Sanguinetti though-this kid offers a very functional replacement for Hill/'Cine...he's a very high ceiling athlete...watch that kid run and hit!

I'd normally side with you, that he doesn't end up Blue. But name me a recent football commit who didn't make that commitment to Michigan.

I'll wait.

It was retweeted onto my timeline from a well respected OU recruiting person (@BrandonTFB)

"I want #Sooners fans to know that July will be a GREAT month for #OU on recruiting trail. They will definitely make a case for number 1 class by months end, if things happen as planned.

That is all."

That was 16 hr ago, that seems that there is a good chance these are connected.

Well, according to some reliable sources on some other sites, one extremely notable, Michigan may actually lead for him. After reading that today, I'm optimistic. It was $ info so I won't get into specifics but I think there is WAY too much pessimism here right now. We'll see, I guess.

I tend to avoid watching highlights of top recruits unless I think there is a legitimate chance. I caved and watched him, he is like a missile out there. Would be a massive get.

I don't think we're going to land Harrison, but getting his commitment would still be considerably more likely than getting Hill. Luring Daxson to Ann Arbor would be a gigantic recruiting upset.

The way we have built our D from the line and lb... It's not farfetched to finally see the fruits here of a Hill wanting to play behind that. Our D is tops in nation and rising, if you average out the past few years .  We reap what we sow.

I live in Tulsa and people here seem to think it's either Michigan, Bama or Oklahoma. Obviously the locals think he is leaning more Oklahoma, but I don't see it.

Tepid optimism. Just for clarity. My source wasn’t like “yeaahhhhh Michigan’s getting him!” as much as “they feel good and did a lot to put themselves in a good position.”

A lot of smoke here putting UM in a good place, but I can't shake the feeling that Bama wants him bad and he would be passing up a huge amount of money if he were to come here.  However, we are getting shout-outs from a ton of 5 star guys so maybe after last years recruiting debacle our boosters have mobilized.

If what I'm hearing about this goon squad is true and the peer pressure then maybe they want to all play together on the nation's top D.  it's not farfetched at all...the kids realize they are bigger than the programs by all going to same school.
