NBA summer league Wagner v Walton & Robinson

Submitted by lorch_arsonist on

As the title says, Mo Wagner played Derrick Walton Jr. and Duncan Robinson in the NBA summer league yesterday as the Heat faced the Lakers. Robinson had a strong outing with 19 points on 7 for 9 shooting and 4 rebounds in just 19 minutes. It's good to see him put together a good showing (+/- 28).  Walton had just 4 points to go along with 6 assists to just 1 turnover in 20 minutes of play (+/- 27).

Mo and his Lakers had a rougher time. Mo put up 8 points to his 5 turnovers and fouled out, as the Lakers lost 74-89. He did have a better showing on Monday in which he scored a team leading 23 points and pulled down 7 boards. So far foul trouble has been plaguing him as he picked up 5 in that game as well.

I'm hoping Robinson can continue his strong play to earn some playing time in the league. The rest of the box score can be found here:

Enjoy the fourth!

It is tough for me to tell how good they were in that format.  Duncan made his threes for a good impression.  Wagner struggled but that is to be expected at this point.  Walton was solid but I am not sure he is good enough.  I hope they all grow and get better going forward.

"Duncan Robinson is a guy who has shown a high IQ, but I think playing for [head coach] John Beilein of Michigan has helped him. He's picking up things quickly."

— Miami Heat video coordinator Eric Glass, who said this to the Orlando Sun-Sentinel.
