Michigan's visiting locker room
Sitting by the pool, under an oak, on a 95 degree day reminded me of my only UM road trip in my fifty years of fandom. It was last fall in West Lafayette on a similarly sweltering afternoon. Our coach seemed to think the visitor's locker room left something to be desired.
I got a chance to see our visitors facilities before one of the football camps I was at. The rains were approaching and the support staff was scrambling to switch all the equipment from the Big House over to Glick. I helped one of the "Gatorade Girls" bring in a table from outside the tunnel into the visiting locker room. I asked her if I could take some pictures and was told "I don't care" --- (tacit approval from the AD, even if it is from someone making $8.50 /hr.)
So the locker room is not as nice as Michigan's but definitely adequate.
The restrooms and showers are almost mirror images of Michigan's with same capacity.
The training room is not nearly as nice as Michigan's but has room for 8 players to be worked on ( taped, iced, massaged, etc.), does have a sink and ice machine.
As to the heat issue --- all these rooms are on the east side of a hulking brick and concrete edifice. I have been in the underbelly during HS football games in August, soccer games in July, movie nights in July and heat has never been an issue.
I've been working on this for an inordinate amount of time and hope the pictures appear. If not sorry and LSA can delete this because the pics are the reason for this heat induced post.

I guess I should have stated the football trunks on casters are probably not there during a game...just stored there for the offseason, thereby creating plenty of space for those padded tables to be spread out.

Believe me I tried multiple attempts Using Open Live Writer, Imce file manager, the upload and add file boxes in the create content page. Pics show up using all my Apple products (Iphone, Ipad, Macpro). My computing classes were at NUBS and involved stacks of punch cards if this gets me a pass.

Wow! Thanks SB for the awesome info and pictures. It is comforting to know that our Visiting Team facilities are completely adequate. Now, if only that could be true everywhere, including at Purdue...
Is it Iowa that has a pink visitors locker room? What psychological advantages could you gain in locker room design that are not immoral/unethical?
Ugly paint?
Lockers that just fit whatever you need to put in them?
Mounted ipads so players get distracted?
mirrors that make the players look smaller?
subliminal messages? Hail to the victors pumped in at almost inaudible levels?
For MSU week, we should just paint a giant mural of the situation surrounded by some of his dumber quotes.
The facilities are vastly superior to what our team was subjected to in West Lafayette. The visiting team are guests, and should be treated as such, except for when they are taking a pounding on the field of play.
Looks more than adequate. College football is big business. If they(anyone for that matter) can be in the big 10, their facilities should be suitable.
Yeah, I never understood this gamesmanship. I feel like it dates way back to the early 1900's and the idea that you make the other team uncomfortable, ala have to bring your own water, is outdated. I can understand that you're not going to put millions of dollars into flat screen TVs & leather sofas, however there's no reason for them to be so small and look like a HS locker room. There is no reason to have crappy stools and chipped paint on lockers. It doesn't have to be flashy, but like paint the danged thing. They should be similar in size to the home team's locker room and if the home team has basic accommodations like AC, ice, adequate number of toilets, sinks, and showers, etc. then the visiting locker room should also have those things.
Adequate medical facilities are the most important feature. No young man should have his future health compromised by poor on-site medical facilities. If the B1G needs to subsidize this for the teams with a lesser revenue stream then so be it.
