Big Michigan crystal ball

OL Trevor Keegan from Allen Trieu.

Would be icing on the cake to a great OL class.

One of the jobs of a concern troll is to convince others that he's not a troll.  This is a way to do that.  Besides, he's getting massacred on twitter right now.

I think the basketball season humiliating him and then this weekend doing the same has taken its toll.  What he's doing here is calling uncle for the moment.

I'd classify that as unduly pessimistic.

A troll's main concern is provoking others, rather than offering their genuine takes. Seems like Bluey is offering his genuine opinions....they just happen to be unpopular and very bearish.

Also, trolls usually contradict themselves or try to be funny. I don't see Bluey doing either.

To follow up on this....

When I told my best friend that Turner had committed, he said it was "meaningless" because there's no guarantee that Turner will sign with us.

My friend is not a troll. He hates disappointment and therefore is hyper skeptical until success is guaranteed. However, if he said that on here, everybody would say that he is a troll.

My dad, who is definitely not a troll (to my knowledge he has never posted a comment or opinion online in his life), takes the same approach with commitments.  "That's nice, let me know when he actually signs an NOI and starts classes."  Not how I look at things, but it's not an uncommon approach.

Why do you trust guys sitting in front of computers more then you trust the coaches at UM?  The coaches who's jobs rely on these recruits and have met, talked with and watched these guys up close are a lot more qualified to judge the talent they need more then a recruiting site.

Despite his suicidal sounding negativity on 3 stars, Maizen has always been positive on high star value prospects. He is at least consistent on using star ranking as his basis of evaluation.

Personally I think the near cyber-bullying of someone who doesn't sound like the most well adjusted person on the planet is getting out of hand.

In fairness there’s really only one team that pulls pretty much any player it wants from the blue chips and that team is not in the north. Michigan is firmly on that second tier in recruiting along with ttds, Clemson, SC, Georgia, Okie and the Catholics etc.  I try to look at some of these three stars and see what the coaches might be seeing a maybe not a complete athletic freak but 2-3 things they might be able to do better than the rest with the coaches putting them in a position to be asked to play to those strengths.  That’s how games are won IMO.

I hate them as much as the next guy, but I don't see how you don't consider OSU on the top tier of recruiting based on their last few years. They seemingly get whoever they want. Maybe it's only because they've been hot for like a decade, maybe it's something more than that. But they have recruited on Alabama's level over the last 5 years.

I mean, it's partly that they've been hot for more than a decade. It's partly that they're great recruiters selling a good school and a great tradition.

But it's also that they pay their players. They pay them _a lot_. This point is not emphasized nearly enough all the bellyaching about recruiting around here. Schools like Michigan and Notre Dame really are playing at a huge disadvantage compared to Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State, et al. Frankly I'm a little surprised we do as well as we do.

I will cop to feeling a bit bad that his Twitter feed was sussed out.  I think being called out on a blog is one thing, but anonymity is important for a lot of people.  I definitely feel worse about how some of that played out, even though his voluminous Twitter activity does point to someone who doesn't mind the attention and, honestly, is more immature than some "adjustment" issues.

What would have been nice would have been the mods maybe suspending the account for a bit once it was clear that everything he posted starting fights.

It's kinda funny to me that his twitter was found out because I had suspected that exact account was also Maizen/Bluey for awhile, all the way to the peak Fire Beilein times. I asked him one time but never got a response. I also felt no need to let the board know I had "found him"

Who said I had zero faith in the coaches and program? I just don't have 100% faith in a coaching staff who played John O'Korn over Brandon Peters, is 1-5 vs our rivals, and went on an almost unprecedented run of 3 star commits. Win the B1G and make the CFP and I'll put way more of my trust in them. Until then I don't think there is anything wrong with some skepticism. Save your scolding for some who gives a damn.

Yes, it truly is crazy that a coaching staff would give the 5th-year senior who apparently looked pretty good in practice a total of... (checks notes)...4 starts to fill in for their injured starter before... (checks notes again)... playing their 3rd-string QB who looked perfectly fine.

So basically your major complain is Michigan lost twice to MSU and 3 times to OSU.  We got that.  Mind you, Michigan nearly beat OSU with their 3rd-string QB (who, as you noted, was previously their 2nd-string QB) and one of the youngest teams in the country using an offensive gameplan that would have worked with a slightly better performance at QB.

And don't get me started about the recruiting starz thing, because good lord I've heard all your arguments I don't need to be reminded how much I don't agree with them again.

Regardless, I'm glad you are back to being happy because Michigan is doing better in your eyes.  And I hope that in the future, Michigan winning a bunch of games solidifies your fandom much like Beilein winning a bunch of games helped you to cast aside your fears that he couldn't recruit or coach.

If there's one knock on Harbaugh I personally have, it's that he appears to be hesitant to play young guys at the QB position.  Literally that's about it though.  As for the 1-5 record vs. the rivals, it sucks, but there aren't too many teams that have winning records against Meyer's OSU (only one I can think of is Dabo at Clemson).  I've personally never seen a walk-off punt return for TD until '15 MSU game, so don't put too much into the 1-2 record vs. MSU (I can avoid MSU smack talk here in ATL for the most part).

That would be a huge pickup...I would love to see what Warinner can do with this Oline class.

Sam Webb, and Tom Loy put in CBs earlier today for DiCosmo that are "VIP locked" but Michigan went from    25-->31% for what its worth.

Bluey...or maizen (or whatever) I haven’t been on this board a long time but I actually kinda like you...hardly ever agree with you but you are a consistent dude.  You have to admit though that Harbaugh and his 7 million dollar salary are doing a much better job with the direction of the program than predecessors, I no longer fear 5-7 or dropping one to the likes of Appalachian.  Maybe you issue is the turnaround isn’t happening fast enough.  Patience buddy.
