Anatomy of a Don Brown Defense and state of MGoBoard

Don Brown is a Dude

We already know this but it is still nice to be reminded sometimes...

Some really cool stats highlighting just how dominant Don Brown has been as a DC over the past 3 years!

State of the Board

I took a quick break from work to post this thread on DB and... Holy Crap!  What is going on with the board?  The mods have completely lost control.  Every offer and every CB is now getting posted and turning into a referendum on our resident douchebag troll.  This is taking recruiting obsession to a creepy / unhealthy place even for a fan message board.

I didn't even mention the sh!tposting of commits on their Hello posts.  That is beyond the pale.

Out of curiosity, I checked couple of 2 star commits on RCMB and nothing but positive posts on the thread.  OSU has a couple of 3 stars in their class and there was one douchebag on 11 Warriors complaining but the other posters shut him down quickly.  I also noticed that the mods on 11 Warriors caved a couple of the douchebag's posts that were crapping on the commit.

Good to know we are looking up at the class act posters on RCMB and 11 Warriors in terms of etiquette.

It is true. With how long this upgrade took to happen, you would think a few use cases would have been extensively tested..at the most basic level of a test plan:

1. User accounts

1.1 Can a user be created

1.2 Can a user be deleted

1.3 Will a moderator have admin control?

I think they were really busy and only got around to testing 1.1.

I can remember a time when posters(like a lot of the posters) being incredible douches was the rule rather than the exception. Nine times out of ten the loudest guy in the room is also the dumbest. On this board and in life. This all strikes me as much ado about nothing.

That is why I don't read any comments anywhere on the internet.  This blog was my one respite where most of the posting was generally somewhat rational (at least outside of game threads).

I think that is why a lot of folks are willing to read and post here.  If it goes the way of everything else, I am out.  I will still read the content but 95% of my clicks are for the board.

What's funny is people don't understand we ALL HAVE THAT F'N TAKE!

No one has said on this board in MONTHS that recruiting is going great.

Brian expressed it, the crowd "sighed in agreement" and now the rest of us are...waiting? ......hoping? ........expecting? ....planning?

The only thing we're NOT doing is saying it OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER...

Get it?

Brian said his piece and isn't "beating the oblivion horse"; where as, bluey and his multiple personalities are gang bang it necrophilic style.

The ironic thing is people like Maizen/Bluey actually can make recruiting worse with their constant negativity.  Recruits and their family's know about the internet, they can read sites like mgoblog and see people shitting on 17 year olds because they don't have enough starz next to their name.

Thank you. It's not the take that's the problem, although he was categorically wrong about Beilein. Everyone agrees that better recruits = better teams. And I think everyone was concerned that we hadn't pulled in a highly ranked guy in a year's span. It's bringing that point up constantly in any recruiting thread that's exhausting. It's not the message, the the style of the message that's annoying as hell.

Btw Reegs, is it confirmed that ShawnL is Bluey/Maizen? I had had that suspicion since the Fire Beilein late 2016, early 2017 timeframe.

The key difference is that you have the simple decency not to shit on a kid's "Hello" post. Sure, we want to recruit 5-stars every year but I'd place the whole "stars matter" obsession behind "coaching matters", "QBs matter", and "the offensive line matters". I think every Michigan fan should be pretty damn proud of the defense these past couple years. I think every Michigan fan is unhappy about the team's record against MSU and OSU. But the latter should never come up in a kid's "Hello" post unless it's in the context of how that kid will help turn the tide.

Anyway, given the new look of the site and the nattering nabobs of negativism, I very eagerly await MGoBlog v3.1...

Are people actually personally attacking recruits ? I have yet to see that, even from Bluey. I, like others, have expressed that we can not win a national title with a team full of 3 stars. Let alone 3 stars who are no where near a 4th star. I'm not super concerned because I believe after a great 2018 season we will push a couple of these kids out of the class in favor of higher rated guys. But after last years down class we can't finish outside the top 10 again.

Don't do it in a "Hello" post. Ever. This is a big moment for the kid and his family. Your opinion, while valid, doesn't belong there. It's kind of like taking a dump in a cooler - just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Why didn't you just post these photos in the post?

And is there a link to where Rashan Gary says he wants to win a Heisman? I want to read about it.
