Yesterday someone or shall I say a couple inane posters came to your defense in your Cameo appearance of gollywood squares but that was all for naught!  You’re a Denny Green clone and a OK State alum not only are you 40 and a grown man.”You are what they say you are!”  Your actions speak louder than words!  Congrats!

"Most of which aren't even commitable."

According to 247, aside from Michigan D.J. Turner II has listed offers from:

Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, FSU, Oregon, ND, Clemson, LSU, Oklahoma, Stanford, Wisconsin, and Penn State.

You don't have the slightest fucking idea one way or the other which of these offers is committable and which isn't.

You believe that talking completely out of your ass is the same thing as having inside information about what these thirteen coaching staffs are thinking about their offered recruits.

I do have the slightest idea because I follow recruiting more closely than any of you bozos on this blog. The only teams you named that he could commit to right now are Florida and Notre Dame. He's not a take for UGA, Bama, or Clemson that's for damn sure.

Let me also add I find it funny how many people suddenly didn't give a damn about "offer lists" yesterday when they play UM got a commitment from only had Bowling Green and Holy Cross.

Anyone who follows recruiting knows there are offers and then there are "offers." Steve Wiltfong said this week that an offer is just the start of a conversation. Nothing more. UM offered a 7th grader last week. Do you think he could commit right now if he wanted to or if he doesn't progress in his development when he's a HS senior? Hell no.

Bottom line is that the rankings are the most reliable indicator of how good a recruit is and the data backs that up. If people want to ignore it and yell angry things at me so be it.

If you really need to it spelled out though here it is.

Anna Hickey had an article on the Clemson 247 site awhile back that Clemson part ways with Turner and aren't recruiting him any more. They are focused on Andrew Booth to fill their last CB slot.

Alabama should be self explanatory. They have 44 visitors on campus this weekend and only two of them are 3 star recruits. Their commit list is 99% 4 star or higher recruits. They have bigger fish to fry and Turner hasn't been mentioned by their 247 mods like ever.

Same thing applies with Georgia. He got an "offer" as a way to appease a high school program that produces a lot of talent. His "offer" is no different than the one UM made to Roderick Heard at Cass Tech this year. Not commitable.

I meant Harrison. And I never said it was about maintaining relationships, I said his offer wasn't commitable and it wasn't. That was the comparison I was trying to make. The relationship part is why UGA made the offer. Probably to appease the high school coach.

Right, and you said Heard's offer is "no different" than Georgia's offer to Turner. Now, I'm obviously not as smart as you, but to me, if the Turner's offer was to maintain relationships, and it's "no different" than Heard's, then that would also be about maintaining relationships. Stop presenting your opinions as facts. You have the same amount of knowledge as anyone with a VIP 247 subscription, which I also have.

“He got an "offer" as a way to appease a high school program that produces a lot of talent. His "offer" is no different than the one UM made to Roderick Heard at Cass Tech this year. Not commitable.“

You literally said the offer to the first kid was to maintain a positive  relationship with the school. Then said Heard’s offer is “no different.”

Then you changed your argument to say it IS different, and the only similarities are that the offers aren’t committable.

Do you always change your argument every time you’re proven wrong? Because you do that an awful lot.

Ok Bluey, you clearly follow crootin very closely - FAR closer than I ever will!

So, my question then is- what should Michigan's crootin strategy be, sharing a relatively 2nd tier state, talent-wise, with another team in the same conference.

Meanwhile, a very powerful rival, recent CFP winner, sits adjacent as the only Power 5 school in a far more talent rich state.

I believe I've seen you suggest to focus their energies on recruiting Michigan athletes, rather than say Ohio or Georgia?

How can they ever compete by doing that? They'll lose some pieces of a smaller pie to msu for various reasons; some to osu due to their recent successes. Some maybe to ND also.

I say the far better strategy is establish relationships with some key talent pipelines (Cass, OLSM, maybe now Belleville?) while focusing on doing the same in states with more talent to choose from.

Which, as far as I can see, is exactly what they're doing!

No?!

I think you confuse "follow" with "understand".  I 100% believe you sit in front of your computer and click on 247 links and believe that makes you an expert, but considering just how many times you've been proven wrong or misinformed just this week, I'm not sure all that's translating.

I knew that moment of self-reflection was too good to be true.

I also noticed you said Quinten Johnson would be a good pickup for UM, while DJ Turner III, another 3-star with practically the same offer sheet and effectively the same national ranking at a similar position (Johnson is a safety at 190 lbs, Turner a corner at 170 but the same height), is a major reach.  What is your logic here?  And I'm being honest - where do you draw these distinctions between reaches and not, about players who fit whatever you feel a class needs and what don't.  Because I'll be honest - what Michigan probably needs more are cornerbacks and not shorter safeties, which is why Turner seems like a better fit.  Johnson, who seems like a solid ballhawk and a great athlete, would be considered a little short for a safety but I'm not sure if he'd be able to convert to cornerback at nearly 200 lbs.  Maybe he becomes a RB?

Because at this point, I've given up expecting you not to be combative with your comments, but since you aren't going anywhere for a bit, might as well at least get a sense of what makes you tick.

Quinten Johnson tore up the Vegas Nike camp winning DB MVP against other top 100 recruits and has the 4th highest Nike Sparq score of any DB in the nation. He's an elite athlete. He was also included in a recent Wiltfong article about the nations 10 most underrated recruits.

DJ Turner plays on a heavily scouted Georgia team (meaning his recruiting ranking is accurate) and is not only small, but plays almost exclusively safety in a zone defense on his film. He doesn't fit in UM's scheme at all. Most of his offers aren't commitable and he's basically a smaller version of Blake Countess only he's ranked about 300 spots lower in the recruiting rankings.

Johnson absolutely looks like a great athlete, and has the test scores to back it up.  But St John's College is apparently one of the top teams in the country (I knew a guy who had gone to HS there and they were good at FB then, looking now they are top-15 per Maxpreps), so I'd counter that he's been just as well scouted as anyone else.  And that Nike camp was a month ago; I don't know how often guys get re-evaluated on the services, but it wasn't like he earned the honors last week.

As for looking at the tapes, both highlight reels look about the same to me.  Both guys pick some errant downfield passes off, tackle guys on screens and dump-offs, return some kicks, etc.  These aren't towering DBs, but both seem to be moved around a bit to maximize their impact.  If you've watch all-22 for a bunch of these guys then I defer to you, but trying to read too much from a 4-minute highlight reel (especially considering how quixotic HS defenses can be with disparate talent), then so be it.

Bluey's going to be Bluey.  Most people roasted the posted yesterday for posting a thread about ignoring him.  There's no point in getting bent out of shape at his posts at this point, he's going to post what he wants to post unless he's eventually hopefully banned.  I'm all for constructive criticism but when you basically shit on a hello post for a kid like he did yesterday then there's no hope.  I'm not giving him any more attention as that's obviously what he's looking for.  If everybody that doesn't care for him stops posting comments about him going forward maybe he'll get bored and leave, going back to his apartment in East Lansing and setting his couch on fire for fun, or go to his vacation home in Columbus, OH and poop in his cooler for fun.

It is entertaining though.  When he is involved in a thread, it does get the most comments.  Content has been minimal as is the message board topics (see Ariana Grande's goofy looking boyfriend thread).  This at least gives me something to read while I sit here and drink my coffee on a quiet Sunday morning.  For that "bozo" comment though, the "bag of dicks" moniker is spot on.
