Submitted by Gentleman Squirrels on

The position formerly held by JT Rogan is up for grabs! You can apply to be the executive assistant to the head football coach which includes being "the person in charge of maintaining Harbaugh's daily calendar, organizing his travel and logistics, keeping up with his personal and professional contacts, assisting in the event planning for all football functions, and plan and facilitate all "VIP, donor and guest appointments."

Payment according to Rogan's former salary is about $80k

I honestly think I could do it and it would be an upgrade over my ice cream truck job, but I have no experience in NCAA or NFL. I hate experience requirements. How are you supposed to get experience if nobody gives up you a chance to gain it.

That's why I'm not putting in for it.  I have zero secretarial experience and am still working (part-time) on my BA.  I would love to get into UM & get that degree while doing my part to help the team win, but even if somehow would get the job I doubt there would be time for a couple of classes.

This brings up an interesting question:

As a lifetime Michigan fan, would you take this job?

Of course it's cool, and would take it if it was personally offered to me, but I think it could put a dent in your fandom.

One of the great things about the program is that it is an amazing escape from the stresses of the outside world, including your worklife, but what if Michigan Football is your worklife? Would you be able to have that pure joy you get every early morning of a Michigan Football Saturday, where you get up, put your maize and blue on, watch some College GameDay, and get ready for kickoff?

In all honesty, this is what I wanted to do as a career. Have all the inside access to a top program, be able to travel with the team, get all the gear, and be paid for it. Although, doing this job would probably require you to work nearly 14 hour days, 7 days a week sometimes, and that would not nearly make that 80k salary worthwhile, it would still be cool.

I wonder how long it would take before I'd despise Jim Harbaugh.  I mean... I love the guy.... but from a safe distance... i.e. my seat in the stands, or separated by a TV screen.

If I were still single and young, this would be an outstanding opportunity!  Young, single, no kids...  That is when you can devote 70-80 hrs/wk to this job, and that's what it will take.  But the access you'll get, the experience at the highest level, and the high-end business connections you'll get, would make it worth the effort for a couple of years.  JT Rogan has a lifetime friend and benefactor in Jim Harbaugh and family.  And that's a serious benefit all its own...

But right now?  No thanks.  Let somebody else do that crap.  LOL!!!
