Fluff: No Michigan vs. osu Nightgames?

Submitted by Catchafire on

Just curious, but have we ever played OSU at night?  At this point in the rivalry and in the age that we are currently in, this is a game that makes sense to be played at night.  There are so many other big rivalries played at night and if UM/ND can do it, we should be able to do it too.

Wasn't the 3:30 kickoff in 2006 one of the only times it was played at a time other than 12 or 1pm?

I don't get the need for this game to be at night.  Let's at least wait until we aren't on a 1-afuckton losing streak.

Pretty sure it's never happened before.

I 100% approve of it happening in the future.

A late November night game in the Midwest - could get really chilly.  I don't think it happens nor do I think it needs to happen.  It is already a huge game for the networks on a holiday weekend.  Not sure if moving it to night changes anything with viewership.  I also don't think it would be popular among the two fan bases either.

Michigan isn't very good in night games. I have no idea how you think we would be more competitive. Since 2012 Michigan is 6 - 12 in games that started after 5pm EST. Jim Harbaugh himself is 3 - 5 in nights games at Michigan. Think about that. Harbaugh is 25 - 6 in games before 5pm, but 3 - 5 after. Those 3 wins were Rutgers and Minnesota twice (one of which Minnesota's coach lost by his foolish time management)

Nothing about that says bring on OSU at night!!

Not buying what you're selling.  How does a Big House full of frozen fans, a considerable number of them wearing the scarlett letter "O", make for a better atmosphere when night time Ann Arbor weather in late November is almost guaranteed to be so cold as to have an adverse effect on crowd noise.

Want to improve the atmosphere for The Game?  Move it to the previous weekend (before Thanksgiving) so that many many more students are in town and able to attend.  Move it to the previous weekend so as to end the tug of war for season ticket holders between going to The Game vs. going out of town for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.  Suddenly the supply of secondary market tickets dries up considerably and we keep the Ohio riffraff out.

Moving The Game up one week will do much much more to improve the atmosphere than moving it to night to accommodate the TV network and their advertising revenue.  I guarantee it!

Not directed at you, but you guys worry about the weirdest shit!

Tee the thing up, and let's beat their ass this time—morning, day, or night.  I am so over this OSU thing!

Night? Meh, not really necessary. But it should not be a 12 pm game anymore. Would definitely be an even better atmosphere and get more viewers if we regularly had it at 3:30.

Why do we play the Rose Bowl game on January 1st? Couldn't it be moved up to December 22nd?  Why does it always have to be in Pasadena? Couldn't they move it somewhere else?

It's fun to ask ridiculous things.

Too much time to get messed up the poison of your choosing. It would probably  be a great time, and break the arrest/ejection record by a mile. Emotions running that high for that much longer i would probably murder my osu neighbor.

I wish the new site would let me neg OP.

It's never happened, it never will, and it never should.

The Game has never happened at night because it doesn't need the primetime spot to get ratings, it still does every year. It's cold in A2 and Cbus in November, so why change it to make that worse if it doesn't make a TV difference? GameDay still comes too.

Also, I don't know about you guys, but I don't want those cooler poopers walking around our town, or even our STATE at night. That's also why it's at noon, less drinking time to get crazy violent, and they get across the border by dark.

Legitimately one of the dumbest debates in this fanbase.

There is a big difference in weather at night between September 1st and November 24th. The only time I can remember The Game played later than noon is 2006 in Columbus at 3:30.

Same people here criticizing having a night game in November are the same people making fun of the SEC for saying "it's too cold up there". Regardless of when the game is, I'm watching it from my house because these tickets are over-priced.
