New in-state offer: 2019 DE Tyrece Woods

Submitted by Magnus on

Belleville (MI) Belleville defensive end Tyrece Woods earned a Michigan offer today at camp. This is big for Woods himself, who has been visiting Michigan over and over and over again and trying to get an offer. He used to attend Detroit (MI) King. He's 6'2", 225 lbs. and has offers from Air Force, Cincinnati, Fresno State, and some others. He's a 247 Sports 2-star, the #103 weakside end, and #1931 overall.

Here's a link to his highlights (LINK).

Holy crap man. Cheer up.

I was on vacation last week, and so I listened to Sam Webb's recruiting podcasts today from last week. Here is what I gathered.

We now have a realistic shot with 5* #8 overall player in Safety prospect Daxton Hill.

From last week, #14 overall player Quavaris Crouch is visiting next weekend I believe.

#31 Overall CB Prospect Akeem Dent (Florida State commit) is seriously interested in Michigan and will be visiting (I think next weekend but may be wrong)

#48 Overall S/CB prospect Lewis Cine - Michigan has a great shot at landing him and Sam believes is the likeliest  CB prospect to join the class.

#99 Overall prospect (#12 on 247) George Karlaftis has very high interest in Michigan. This is a legit 5* kid.

These are just top 100 guys that have been discussed in the last two weeks.

Of course you won't comment on any of that (at least positively). I honestly thought about creating a post just because you have been such an extreme downer on this board.

Hey i'm all with you in being optimistic about Michigan recruiting but there were some inaccuracies on what you reported.

I know Sam has been super high on Dax Hill coming to Michigan but I think realistic is stretching it. We're in his top group which is nice but it's more than likely he ends up in Oklahoma.

I think Crouch visited last weekend

Lewis Cine is a safety, but yes I'm super super optimistic he ends up in Michigan's class

Karlaftis has high interest in Michigan and if he ever decommits he has a high chance of going blue. But with his family history at Purdue, it would take a really bad year from Purdue for Karlaftis to decommit.

It was either Wiltfong or Trieu that claimed Michigan has a realistic shot at Dax Hill within the last week. I was just repeating what I heard. Sam didn't necessarily want to go that route, but it sounds like Michigan is picking up a little steam with him and will be getting him on campus. A "realistic shot" just means he is seriously considering Michigan and not just throwing out a hat on the table. It's not saying much more than that, but it's still another 5* that will be visiting.

Crouch was supposed to visit this week but I saw someone on the board yesterday say his "tag" or whatever was never picked up, so it looks like that visit maybe didn't or won't happen.

I wouldn't predict Karlaftis to come to Michigan, but he has stated several times that "NFL development" is one of the top if not the top reasons for choosing a school. Sam has shown a lot of confidence - I wouldn't necessarily be so down about that one, but I wouldn't necessarily say Michigan leads either. It's something to at least be excited about as a potential addition because he is one of the kids that we have be best shot for with which we don't lead for.

And I thought they were looking at Lewis Cine as a tall cornerback prospect. That's why I said "S/CB" and not just CB, because I wasn't entirely sure as I knew his ranking position is at Safety.

I mean half of these negative comments stem from crystal balls or offers, which if those are worthy of directing feedback then so is some of the information that I provided. It's all based off potential additions to the class with prospects with interest as well as guys Michigan is going after. None of these situations mean Michigan will be landing a kid, so if you can grumble about a 3* offer then you can be excited about a 5* player visiting Michigan.

Yes, a supposed Michigan fan who $hits on kids that want to play football for Michigan makes you a piece of $hit.

That, and the fact that you like to lick your own @sshole.  That is another bad trait and explains why nobody chooses to spend time with you.

You're Despicable

I signed up an account just to let you know what a despicable human being that I think that you are. At best you're a troll from an opposing fanbase. At worst, you're a pathetic self-hating black hole of negativity and defeatism who goes out of his way to bring others down with you.

The fact that you think that it's an okay thing to insult an entire recruiting class of kids, kids who work their asses off and who love Michigan with all their heart, is absolutely despicable. Every single one of them has done more for Michigan and represents Michigan better than you could ever dream of doing. Even worse than that, you come into threads like this and go out of your way to insult individual players. Why you think that this is an acceptable thing to do, or why the moderators allow you to do so, is completely beyond me.

Imagine being a player who worked their asses off for an offer to their dream school and are extremely excited about it, or a family member or friend of theirs, and going online looking for discussion about it. You find the largest free Michigan forum. Rather than congratulations, optimism, or even constructive criticism (as put forth by Magnus), they instead see some slapdick clown named Bluey tearing him and half of the other recruits apart based on nothing aside from a two second check of recruiting websites. I know that you're doing it to insult and undermine the staff above all else, but the fact that you're willing to throw kids under the bus to do so speaks volumes.

You actively make the board and the world a worse place with your unmitigated negativity and pessimism. You reflect horribly on yourself and the entire fanbase. I'm not saying that everybody has to unfailingly optimistic, but I am saying that everybody should go out of their way to not be a complete and total dickhead, especially in a post reporting an offer for a kid. You're not being "rational" or "keeping it real," you're assuming the worst in every case with minimal information and uninformed opinions while actively rooting for Michigan to fail so that you can be right.

You should be ashamed of yourself for conducting yourself in this way. It's baffling to me why you're allowed to continue posting, or why you even continue to do so. It's clear that following Michigan sports brings you nothing but consternation and pain. Just shameful.

Maizen literally has nothing else in his life.  His pathetic existence literally needs people like us  to fight with.

Wost part is he will come back later and claim he never $hit on any of the kids and was always a huge supporter- just like in basketball.

I know I am feeding into his cesspool, but it is really, really fun for me to $hitkick that clown.

This is a joke right?

When people bitch about the football team, you realize that, according to your logic, they are insulting an entire group of kids.

I'd say recruits and parents shouldn't be reading internet fan forums in the first place because it's the fringe 1% of the fan base and nothing good can come from it. I believe Brian had a front page article about this awhile ago. At the end of the day what you're asking for is not only unrealistic it's ridiculous. It's not my job to make everyone feel warm and fuzzy about everything. I'm going to share my honest opinion and people are free to agree or disagree with it. If that bothers you, then I suggest you stay away from the comments section on all parts of the internet.

You're Despicable

June 18th, 2018 at 11:37 PM ^

The only joke here is you.

Aside from that, that's not at all what I'm saying, actually. Your inability to comprehend my point is yet another black mark against you and your character. Your twisted and selective interpretation of my post leading you to conclude that "people bitching about the football team are, according to your logic, insulting an entire group of kids" would almost be comical, if it weren't so sad. You're either being disingenuous or have less than zero ability to think critically, and neither are good options for you.

The fact that you can't see the difference between complaining about the football team's results on the field and outright insulting a kid who just received an offer is mindblowing to me. Not only do you go after the group, you go after individuals, and you do it in a way that is absolutely disgusting. You're being a complete and absolute dickhead, and I hope that you realize that. There's a fine line between constructive criticism and caution versus unbridled pessimism and vitriol. Your posts are decidedly in the latter group. Not to mention, a great deal of the time it's based on incomplete or bad information, like the other day with Lance Dixon's visit. You have absolutely no idea what's going on in many of these cases, and I'd be willing to further bet that your "analysis" is almost entirely based on checking recruiting sites for two seconds.

It's not "unrealistic" or "ridiculous" to expect you or the world at large to conduct themselves as decent human beings. If you're unable to do so, which you clearly are, you should be disallowed from posting, as many posters less toxic than you have been in the past. In fact, it seems to me that one of your previous accounts was banned for exactly that reason. Notice how I singled out Magnus' honest assessment and constructive criticism as being acceptable, whereas I went out of my way to call out your shit-flinging insipid garbage.

Once again, I don't expect you to be sunshines and rainbows; I merely expect you to conduct yourself with a minimal amount of decency and respect. If I wanted your brand of toxic garbage, I would go to Twitter or one of the other cesspools of the internet. You and your garbage belong there. It's not "unreasonable" to expect members of a University of Michigan board to not behave like absolute scumbags who go out of their way to insult people and be a black hole of negativity.

Your vague reference to Brian's opinion while offering a defense of "THEY SHOULDN'T BE ON HERE, ANYWAY!" is both unconvincing and completely beside the point. You can have all the opinions that you want, and I'm completely okay with that. Expressing them like you do and behaving like you do is the unacceptable part. You're an absolute ass and should be ashamed of yourself.

For example, if you'd said something along the lines of "I'm not so sure about this offer, but maybe the coaches see something that I don't. Congratulations, in any event! I hope he does well if he does end up committing," I wouldn't have had a problem in the world with it. Instead, you went with sarcastic toxic garbage like "Good thing we offered this kid before Bama and OSU did." If you can't see the difference or why somebody would have problems with the latter, I don't know what to tell you; that just means that you're a miserable and maladjusted human being.

As I said before, you make both this board and the world at large a far worse place by carrying yourself the way you do.

Congrats Tyrese hope it leads to a spot for you. The hungrier they are, the more appreciative they are, the easier it is for me to root them on.

If you can earn that spot, Don Brown will mold you into a Tyrannosaurus Woods.

Calling it now, if he signs at UofM he'll have a better college career than the highest rated Belleville player but he'll be drafted many rounds after him.

Interesting that he worked his tail for a UofM offer and now he has it.  Why wouldn’t he commit?

It’s possible Harbaugh is trying to build some relationships and maybe get these kids some positive publicity.

Its certainly neat to see a kid putting in the extra effort.

Watched his film, just left me with more questions.  Like why did we offer.  Not overly worried though.  Past years have shown that if scholarships are tight come signing day, some of these borderline recruits will start looking around at other schools.
