Gahhhhhhh
I HATE the OHL :-/
Michigan Hockey Summer™
I can't believe that this news slipped by Bluey/Maizen. I thought he would have loved to inform us that hockey recruiting is falling apart /s
His school doesn't have a hockey program so he probably didn't notice
Damn, was looking forward to seeing him play for the good guys.
Sucks but can't blame a kid for choosing to get paid while developing over doing it at school.
I don't know what the OHL pays, but I'm guessing it's less than free tuition + room and board at a works class university like Michigan. Plus he gets to develop under a program that actually gives a shit about him as a person instead of as a piece of property.
Yeah except that is not how these things worth. If he believes in his skill he won't be in college for 4 years to get a degree. Two years of classes at Michigan carries relatively little value. So the tuition room and board is really like an investment that only starts vesting after 4 years when he only plans to be at his next job for 1 or 2. When you factor in the additional time commitments and restrictions of being an NCAA athlete and I don't blame any prospective early entry candidate for picking the OHL.
About $500 per week. Your living expenses are all paid for by the teams though.
Edit: That's the average, some are less, in the $150/week range, and some are more. Patrick Kane made 100k while playing for London.
You can also sign endorsement deals if you'd be a big enough name.
Man that sucks. Might set us back this year.
Damn Shame!!
Sounds like a porn star
Buck Naked
Sucks. Hopefully Hughes comes back so it won’t hurt too much. Just hate that it happens so late and you can’t really replace him in the class but it is what it is.
look on the bright side, M hockey fans: at least we won't have Don bitch about Wilde leaving 2-3 years early next year or the year after.
