B1G - 9-game conference schedule, zero FCS opponents.
SEC - 8 game conference schedule, one FCS opponent.
ACC - 8 game conference schedule, one FCS opponent.
B1G is going back to 8 game schedule again, but even then I hope we don't schedule FCS opponents. There are plenty of MAC type teams to choose from and nothing to gain from playing FCS teams
That has not been said. It was hinted at by the Nebraska AD but was walked back immediately and verified by the Iowa AD that the topic had not been broached in any official discussions.
Yep, was hinted at and then debunked but something is going on. No one is saying what, apparently an announcement is coming but if it's realignment, dynamic conference scheduling or what it is, no one seems to know.
Good point which makes the 9 game conference schedule so much better. Who'd you rather see Michigan play - a B1G team or an FCS team? Makes you wonder why B1G is moving back to 8 games.
BTW - these ads -- geez a male waist tightener or whatever you'd call it.
It's probably worse for the West division than for the East but it increases the chances of another L on the schedule (assuming you are still scheduling 1 quality out of conference game already). If we go 10-2 with the second loss as a 5th conference away game at Iowa you may not think the nine game schedule is such a good idea, at least while other conferences are choosing to play 8.
You yanks just don't understand
Playing in the SEC is so dern tough that it's like playing the Patriots every week.
Good, that makes it better for the fans.
You might as well schedule one of these guaranteed wins as long as it doesn't penalize you. A 11-1 Alabama will never be held out of the playoffs for crushing some cupcake.
I like it and think all P5 schools should never play FCS schools.
I agree but I don't even want to pay MAC teams. I wish SOS mattered more than two losses. I'd rather see Michgian v. Arkansas/ Texas/ Washington than any non power 5.
Pete would say it is so tough to play in the ess eee see every week.
He'd also say the FCS schools down south are better than most MAC schools.
Rutgers probably SHOULD schedule FCS teams.
I thought rutgers was an FCS school.
USC, UCLA, and Notre Dame - the only 3 FBS schools to have never played an FCS school (since the D-1A/D-1AA split occurred in the early 1980s).
