A. thanks to robf i am able to find this site now. i was getting that old picture of the fab 5 the last 3 days and thinking the blog-world had ended.

c. i really am pulling for the caps. ovi has paid his dues and they are have been a historically collapsing team in the cup playoffs. good for them, go caps.

Guessing a significant drop off in traffic. The weird thing is that on Tuesday night I signed in and got the new site. The next day, not, and I figured they had some stumble in the new platform and would get back at it.
Oh well, different, not better, but I figure there's a learning curve and I'll like it eventually.

Here we are, back in Medieval Times Arena for Game 5 of the Stanley Cup. That concert in the middle of a fountain was a bit odd and very Vegas.
This pre-game show is... painful.
Does the hockey game start after the dungeons and dragons match or is there going to be more pregame dinner theatre?

I will concede that if Las Vegas is allowed to use archers and siege weapons, they may well be able to come back from a 3-1 deficit.
Neither team is generating many high quality opportunities. This is a hard fought defensive game.

Original 6 Wings fan here. But I've lived in VA, just south of DC, for 18 years - as long as I lived in MI growing up. So go CAPS!!!

The Capitals are playing more like "selling out to win" the whole series. It shows. Vegas would be a great story, but they are not as hungry.
What an incredibly entertaining 20 minutes of hockey... hopefully the 3rd period is just as good!
I don't really like the results, but that was an entertaining 2nd period! My wife, a ~lifetime Caps fan, is apoplectic...

no offense to VGK fans, but the caps fans have been supporting them for 40 years without a Cup and 20 years since their last SC appearance...
i'm still not convinced VGK fans won't pull a Florida Panthers/Caroline Hurricane disappearing act once they aren't consistently winning.

I think Vegas will be a better hockey city because it is a destination city but Miami and Raleigh just aren't for the most part. I'd honestly love to see the Hurricanes move back to Hartford and see the Panthers move to Quebec City.

I hate it when tv broadcasts pot down crowd noise so that we can hear the boring announcers.
This broadcast doesn't have that problem. Game sounds electric. I love the Caps fans out there in Vegas.
If they hold on, I'm really happy for them. I love seeing fanbases coalesce around a team, and for so long it looked like Washington fans would never see their team come through. Reminds me of rooting for the Wings in the 90s.

Maybe time dialation is a thing, but it sure seemed to me that the refs added a significant amount of time when they let the local arena timekeeper stop and restart the clock. You can’t tell me that from the time that the announcers noted when the clock stuck at 1:00 (itself a long time from the 1:38 with the face off in the Caps end) and then then announced it was running at 52 sec was way more than 8 seconds of play. I’m just glad that the Caps won anyway, as I think there would have been significant controversy over the timekeeping if Vegas had scored at the end of the game.
I actually rewound the game and timed it on my phone like a nerd. From the puck drop at 1:49 until the whistle at :28 seconds or whatever it was, it was dead on accurate.
Couldn't see the time on TV, but it was correct when they got it back up and running.

Yes - he's got 30-some points in the playoffs and has been on the ice for every important goal for the Caps! He's earned it!!
They both had great postseasons. Ovechkin with a couple more goals, both with lots of points. Honestly, it's nice to see Ovechkin perform well throughout. I'm sure no one will mind whomever wins.
