Damn, if OSU didn't jump us.  If you look at the list of top ten lately, they have been beating us, they have certainly stepped up their game.... time for us to do the same!

Ranking in Director's cup, last few years:

2018:  OSU 2nd  Michigan 3  (for now)

2017: OSU 2nd   Michigan 7

2016: OSU 2nd  Michigan (not in top ten)

2015  OSU 7th   Michigan (not in top ten)

I reiterate my statement, Michigan needs to step it up

12 points behind OSU. Hopefully Michigan can jump them in track and field. However, not making the baseball tournament will hurt. I believe OSU made the tournament but don’t know how far they advanced.

OSU baseball went 0-2 in regionals. Michigan can jump OSU by doing a little better than them in track & field.

So far, in men's competition yesterday, OSU placed 7th and Michigan placed 9th, separated by one point.

Michigan’s Ben Flanagan’s win in the 10,000 meters gave the Wolverines ten points to put Michigan in ninth place after the first day of the NCAA Track & Field Championships, but Ohio State’s men were a point ahead in a tie for seventh place.

Big Ten champion Taylor McLaughlin (400m hurdles) qualified fifth for the men’s final, so he should add to Michigan’s points total.  Shot putters Andrew Liskowitz (14th place) and Grant Cartwright (11th place) did not advance to the finals, so they got no points in the team standings for Michigan.  Freshman high jumper Brandon Piwinski won’t jump until Friday, but his personal best jump of 2.14 meters (7 feet 1/4 inch) ranks 23rd of the 24 entrants in the field.

Big Ten champions Claire Borchers (3,000m steeplechase) and Haley Meier (1,500m), along with Sarah Zieve (3,000 steeplechase) are the only women representing Michigan at the NCAA Track & Field Championships, but it might be difficult for them to earn Michigan any points in the team standings.  Borchers’ personal best is the seventh fastest of the 12 runners (including Zieve) who will race in one of the two semi-final heats today. Zieve’s personal best is the slowest of the 24 semi-finalists.  Meier’s personal best is the 10th fastest of the 12 runners competing in her semi-final heat today.

Michigan Baseball gets no points in the Directors Cup standings because they were left out of the NCAA Tournament.
