UM-friendly bar locations across the US (and elsewhere)

ED-Seth: Welcome to our Bar Finder Sticky. The user community has kept this going since 2009 to help MGoBloggers find UM-friendly sites for their suds consumption.

We also got a big boost in curation in 2016 from our sponsors, the...

...since most of these bars are officially alumni bars. To find your club and events happening in your area, visit their website.

A couple weeks ago, I put together a google map with all of the Michigan bars I'm aware of (and also everything from the spreadsheet that bouje has been maintaining.) The map is here.

Hopefully this will prevent the "where's the Michigan bar in Pittsburgh/Fresno/Topeka/wherever" threads that pop up every week, but if your favorite gameday hangout isn't on here, put it in the thread and let me know.  I'll do my best to keep the map up to date.

I just moved to Reno and wondering if there are any Michigan bars here.  I am usually better off watching at home by myself, but if something happens to my cable or something, it'd be nice to know where I can go to be sure to watch the game.

Cool idea. I was visiting my daughter in Chicago the weekend Michigan and Michigan St. were playing. There was a close bar in town but it was a Michigan State bar. At least I knew they would be playing the game. I went in there with my Michigan gear on and I was the O N L Y  supporter of the Maize and Blue. Did I stay? You bet! Michigan won that year and I was the only one clapping and cheering. People were pretty cool about it and I wasn't being a d*ck either. After I left the bar,  I noticed there was a Michigan bar 2 blocks down. I didn't know. Come to find out in the neighborhoods around Wrigley there are bars dedicated to each B1G team. Seems theres a lot of kids from the surrounding schools who flock there for their first job.

We just moved to Austin this spring from Grand Rapids, MI.  Sad we have to miss home games at the Big House but hoping we can meet some Wolverine fans in this barren wasteland full of Longhorns, Bears and Aggies.  The Google maps posted lists Pluckers on Lamar.  Any other Austinites that bleed maize and blue?  Is this the best place to view a game?

Came to see the same. Not living in Austin, but I will be visiting that weekend. The alumni club site shows Haymaker and Pluckers. I think I'll be staying closer to Haymaker, so I'd probably check out there, but curious if there are any hidden gems.

On the board for UM Nashville Spirit Group and happy to share that we've got two new locations this year:

The Slider House - 1907 Division, Nashville, TN

Brewhouse South - 1855 Galleria BLVD, Cool Springs, TN

Both will be able to provide game audio and allowance of the all-important cowbell. We're also aiming to do raffles and drink specials at select games to raise money for scholarships from our area.

Lastly, people are encouraged to like the University of Michigan Nashville Spirit Group FB page.

A fellow alum and Colorado resident watched the CU game at Connor O'Neill's in Boulder. He said it was decked out with M banners and such. Apparently there is also a Connor O'Neill's in Ann Arbor as well, which neither of us knew, so I'm guessing there is a connection.

Conor O’Neill’s Irish Pub
1922 13th St,
Boulder, Colorado 80302
Ph: 303-449-1922

Should add to map to go along with LoDo's in Denver.

Edit: April 14, 2017

Closing April 22, 2017 per the Denver Post.…

My WatchParty App is being designed around this feature of listing best sports bars throughout the USA.  A drill down feature will also allow for a team based bar like UM/MSU/ND, etc.

Users of the App can send in their favorites as well so it becomes a fan based App.

I know it's a little late for this season but I did some updating of the map and will continue to do so through the holidays.

It seems like some cities change location yearly. If you run a group that changes location regularly and use facebook for organization purposes could you please provide a link/name to that group. Places like Nashville and Charlottesville use facebook to organize and I have included that information on the map for locations in those areas.

EDIT: Also, if you know of bars that are either no longer open or not Michigan friendly please let us know. I deleted a few but I imagine more exist.

… hosted the football watch parties for the U.M. Alumni Association of Tampa Bay this season. I'd add them to this map — 1320 Central Ave, St. Petersburg, FL 33705.

Also Grand Tavern in Delray Beach, Fla., is a Michigan-themed sports bar. They fly the flags of all major Michigan teams, tho', so you'll likely see a giant Sparty logo painted on the window next to an equally huge maize "M". It's at 710 Linton Blvd., Delray Beach, FL 33444.

Exclusive 2017 Houston watch party venue is 3rd Floor, 2303 Smith Street.  It is located on the 3rd floor of the same building as Pub Fiction.  There is an elevator that will take you to the 3rd floor of the 2303 Smith Street building.

Hello! GO BLUE! I see the old posts listing places in DC which are now closed to watch the University of Michigan games... does anyone have any updated bar information for the Alexandria, VA or DC areas? Thanks!

Slider House will once again be official watch party location for Nashville University of Michigan Alumni Club. Open to everyone. Though they're on the map, Bar Louie is a State bar, and Crow's Nest and Brewhouse South are no longer gathering locations.

On Hilton Head Island for the weekend and The Dry Dock Bar on William Hilton Parkway was listed on an Island Visitors site as a Michigan bar so we checked it out.  Walked in and the bartender was wearing an "Ann Arbaugh" t shirt.  Not a huge place but cool to watch the game with 20 or so other Michigan fans this far south.

Anybody have an updated bar for Charleston, SC? I see on the map that the bar listed may be in question. Wife and I will be there this weekend. Looking for a spot to watch the Final Four game.

The map, which can be found here, is updated. I did not add some bars because people simply listed the name of a bar and nothing else. City, state and street address would be nice

For the Greensboro/Winston-Salem/High Point (North Carolina) area, JP Looney's is closed, and the official meeting place for football watch parties is Fisher's Grille (Greensboro), NOT Flipflops.  Map needs some updating there.  Thanks!

12051 Ventura Place, Studio City (Los Angeles/SFV), CA 91604

If the game is broadcast and we can get it through Time Warner/Spectrum then we'll have it on.

Give me enough notice and I can bring a ROKU player to watch the games that are only available in LA by streaming through the FOX, ESPN or BTN apps.

I'm a Buckeye fan here in Seattle. If you're a UM fan, go to Buckley's in the Belltown neighborhood.

I went randomly with two other Buckeye fans to Buckley's. It was like a scene in a movie where the record needle scratches and the dancing stops. All Maize and Blue and packed.

Conversely, avoid The Sport by the Space Needle. That's where the OSU and PSU alums go.
