OT - Reddit CFB Risk Update 6/6: Don't Shoot Clemson, plz

Submitted by ReegsShannon on

Yesterday was an okay. We got a couple of fairly high value territories (Minnesota for attacking, Nebraska, Toledo for attacking Wisconsin and Bowling Green for attacking OSU), but also lost a bit of our front (Pitt, WVU). The most positive development is probably with Florida and our allies. If you take a look at the large map the bottom of the post. Florida has made big headway into enemy territory. Georgia Tech and Clemson are healthy and have a mostly united safe front (except for a few pockets of Chaos). So the alliance as a whole is in a good position to march. Florida being unleashed is great for because now Nebraska simply can't devote too many resources to fighting us.

Also, do not be alarmed by Clemson taking that land from us. If you look at the numbers, Clemson had 1 or 2 rogues attacking each of those territories while we had 0-2 people defending them. We're just going to send a couple people on those territories today and we'll get them back with minimal effort. If you are going rogue and not taking assignments, we ask that you don't attack any currently held Clemson territories. We have assignments set up for people to take back Syracuse, Army and Rutgers and would like to leave the rest of the Clemson territory alone.

Today we're gonna reconsolidate New England, continue to push against OSU and Wisconsin while causing chaos for Nebraska in the midde of their front. They devoted A LOT of resources to trying to extinguish us.

Please do not post about your assignments in the thread below. Trying to keep everything a little bit more secure after our mole issue.

Announcements:

The "Blue Alliance" has been re-dubbed the "Allied Forces" and now consists of Michigan, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Florida, and Texas.  If you aren't using the website to get orders, then please refrain from attacking any territories controlled by our allies.

If you are a relatively new reddit user, please check the game page to ensure that you are not being flagged as a bot. If you are flagged you will see a text box like the one below. If you are flagged as a bot, your turns will not assist our chances to win (although you can still accumulate turns so you can level up stars). If you see this box, then follow the hyperlink to fill out the survey, but ALSO message /u/bakonydraco directly on reddit to get the issue sorted out.

Instructions to Join:

To join all you need to do is go to reddit.com/r/cfb and create an account if you don't already have one. Next, set your flair to Michigan. You can do this by clicking "Select Flair" on the right side of the cfb subreddit. Finally, you can join and play the game at https://vote.redditcfb.com/cfbrisk.php

If you want to discuss the game in deeper detail and strategize with us, you can join our discord server found here: https://discord.gg/NZTdhta. We usually announce plans of what we want to attack/defend in the evenings, but we discuss strategy all day. Be warned though, there will be a vetting process to join the discord as we have had some mole issues from OSU. Even if you don’t pass the vetting process, we can still provide less-secret instructions in the general chat so that you can still help us towards our goals until we can fully 100% trust you.

Go Blue!

Instructions as to how to play:

At the beginning of the game. Every team was assigned one single territory, and so every territory is now named after that team. When you go to select an action in the game, you'll see option such as:

"Defend Buffalo", "Attack Penn State", "Attack Kent State".

This means that we border the location that was originally assigned to Penn State and Kent State. If you choose to attack Penn State, you will attempt to take that piece of land next round. Defend Buffalo, means that we currently own Buffalo's original homeland, and defending Buffalo means putting your stars towards keeping Buffalo from being taken.

After you submit what you're doing for the day, just sit back at wait! At Midnight EST all of the picks from all of the teams go in, and a random number generator selects a winner for each territory. Then it all happens again tomorrow.

I read your commentary and think good things are happening, but then I look at the map and it looks worse.  My brain can't reconcile these differences

Think of all Clemson territories as Michigan territories. Also, notice that the east coast is all Allies Forces (GT, Clemson, Michigan, Texas, Florida). Finally, note that Florida is finally able to unleash hell on the red forces.

It doesn't look great due to the lack of yellow, but you have to think in terms of alliances, not Michigan vs. The World.

The rule is that RED is BAD. Think about it throughout history. You have the Redcoats oppressing the American colonies. Red China. The Soviets. The very existence of the buckeyes.

To those who know more about this game than I do:

What does Georgia Tech do? Have they exchanged any territories ever? I feel like they have been protected by us, Clemson, Florida, and Texas damn near every day.

Can someone explain something about the rules?  Does it matter how many users go into a battle or does it simply matter, if you have the strongest members in the battle?

Im a 2 Star that will likely never get to 3, do I even count?
