SIAP META: poster names
I know that there are certain posters who get shunned by many here fairly regularly (I may be one for some). Am I missing where it shows who posted the original content of the thread? Or if I'm not missing it and it's not really there, will this be added in?
I see that this thread was initiated by poseidon7902. Please confirm your identity, poseidon, because I don't trust you.
I also see that - and I also see we can now vote and down again! order restored
hmm although we can't vote the OP; so we can judge comments just not OPs
You can still give them encouragement and love with your comments - or pile on the abuse until they are cowering in fear. I've noticed the latter is the more likely Mgoblog approach to an OP.
Yes, I see you are being "judged" a lot.
Don't really understand the question - your post here says "Submitted by Poseidon7902" under the title. Isn't that showing who posted original content?
He didn't scroll up and look above the first comment box.
You mean in the main page preview?
Ahhhhh....yes. Main page preview does not show username info.
We decided to do that to save vertical space.
I for one would like to see who initiated a post before I open it. It was a nice thing on the old site to see when a trusted user had something to share vs someone...not so trusted.
Welcome fellow god! I am Thord son of Odin, King of Asgard, god of thunder.
No you're not. You're a god's hammer. An inanimate object,.. so go be inanimate somewhere. /s
(Although it was funny. )
Is "Thord" some kind of Old Norse joke I just don't get?
I assume you mean prior to clicking on the thread. I’ve asked that as well. It would be nice to know who started the thread prior to clicking.
There can be only one Hotel!
But can there be more than one Motel and/or Holiday Inn's?
Sorry, I'll see myself out.
This is a semi-related meta-question (or suggestion?). Is it possible to reformat or compress the comment footer? I think the problem is the Joined and MGoPoints fields are both doublespaced.
It looks clunky, oversized, and odd that the footer takes up as much space as most the comment itself. IMHO, it decreases the readability of comment threads, since successive comments start that much further down screen.
(Why yes, I do have weird tics and bugaboos about formatting. Why do you ask?)
Yes, each comment takes up a lot of unnecessary space.
Seems like they could be easily compressed some . . .
I just took a look at the site on mobile. Most of the footer disappears on mobile (no Joined or MGoPoints fields), but the comments are just huge. There's a lot of whitespace above and below that makes it impossible to see more than two single-line comments at a time.
As clarified several times, I meant from the main page. I accept the punishment from non-inanimate god objects.
Welcome to a new world
