He's been working hard and I think has been the clear #3 creator on offense only behind Copp and Compher. The goals haven't been going in for him like the others but he's making plays and creating offense for us
February 15th, 2014 at 9:01 PM ^
FUCK! They score, 2-1 them.
February 15th, 2014 at 9:02 PM ^
Another 2-on-1 for Minnesota, another goal
I'm starting to get tired of these constant defensive breakdowns
February 15th, 2014 at 9:06 PM ^
Why is Zach not in goal tonight? He had one bad night it happens freshman.
February 15th, 2014 at 9:07 PM ^
And Racine played well last night. Why pull the goalie who just played well for the goalie who struggled against Penn State? Let Zach get his footing again at Yost, not at Mariucci
February 15th, 2014 at 9:08 PM ^
Michigan back in skid and frustrating to watch.
February 15th, 2014 at 9:10 PM ^
Argh, crossbar!
February 15th, 2014 at 9:14 PM ^
Good things happen when you can keep it in the zone. PP upcoming
February 15th, 2014 at 9:15 PM ^
Whoa, C YA! Good pressure draws the penalty.
February 15th, 2014 at 9:15 PM ^
So close but can never get a bounce to go our way.
February 15th, 2014 at 9:19 PM ^
Sigh, no joy.
February 15th, 2014 at 9:20 PM ^
DAMMIT, they score, 3-1.
February 15th, 2014 at 9:21 PM ^
Are NCAAs even realistic this year?
February 15th, 2014 at 9:47 PM ^
We're looking like a 3-4 seed right now and of our final 8 games, 6 are at home and 6 are against the bottom feeders: OSU, MSU, and PSU. Very good chance we'll make it
February 15th, 2014 at 9:51 PM ^
We finsh the season with Minnesota, Penn State, MSU (1) and OSU (1) at Yost. Only two road games at Munn and in Columbus.

February 15th, 2014 at 9:23 PM ^
Moffat is damn good.
February 15th, 2014 at 9:29 PM ^
Sigh.
February 15th, 2014 at 9:30 PM ^
Shots are almost even, we have 18, they have 19. Both 0-2 on PPs, We've won 17 faceoffs to their 16. We just can't put the puck in the net.
February 15th, 2014 at 9:32 PM ^
Anyone else feel this team has gotten worse as the year gone on? Of course we struggled to score goals with so much talent sigh
February 15th, 2014 at 9:43 PM ^
We've been able to win because of outstanding goalie play, but our blueline has been playing like this the entire year.
We turn the puck over in the D-Zone 15 times a game and allow half a dozen 2-on-1's. It's catching up to us.

Pretty even game, to be honest. Both teams pretty sloppy in their own end (us)/the neutral zone (them), Gophers doing a slightly better job of converting. Our special teams are better than theirs, for what that's worth.

Fox Sports Detroit, brought to you by the University of Minnesota Hockey Network?
February 15th, 2014 at 9:43 PM ^
FSD is picking up the Fox Sports... North or whatever feed from Minnesota. Because that's way cheaper than ... well, having the BTN crew work it since Fox owns both of those.
February 15th, 2014 at 9:44 PM ^
It's the feed from Fox Sports North, or something like that.
February 15th, 2014 at 9:52 PM ^
Another 2-on-1, big save Racine.
February 15th, 2014 at 9:55 PM ^
Sigh, Downing, contact to the head.
February 15th, 2014 at 9:56 PM ^
Wow, Downing tossed in consecutive nights. Have to assume he's going to get suspended now...
February 15th, 2014 at 9:56 PM ^
Downing
February 15th, 2014 at 9:57 PM ^
Do you feel we don't have enough snipers on this team?
February 15th, 2014 at 10:01 PM ^
That's the problem, it's all finesse. Besides JT Compher and Andrew Copp, we don't have anyone who is willing to go to the net.
February 15th, 2014 at 10:08 PM ^
not so much skill guys, but guys who just are good goal scorers, a la Denny Felsner or (for those unfamiliar with D Fels) Brett Hull.
February 15th, 2014 at 10:20 PM ^
Motte is close behind but not getting quite the same production. Hyman tries hard but seems snake-bit
Everyone else on the top few lines is just underperforming frankly. Boo, PDG, Guptill, Moffatt, etc. Don't know what their deal is but they're useless most of the time. Sometimes I wonder if Guptill even wants to be here anymore (my guess is no)
February 15th, 2014 at 10:01 PM ^
There have been a number of games where we have trouble putting the puck in the net.
February 15th, 2014 at 10:13 PM ^
February 15th, 2014 at 10:23 PM ^
Boo never got going and PDG and Guptill both seem to have regressed since promising freshman campaigns
February 15th, 2014 at 9:58 PM ^
February 15th, 2014 at 9:59 PM ^
They score, PPG, 4-1 them.
February 15th, 2014 at 10:02 PM ^
Racine given up 9 goals in two nights? Time to pull for Zach?
February 15th, 2014 at 10:09 PM ^
Maybe one was his fault. Maybe.
February 15th, 2014 at 10:17 PM ^
When Minnesota just gets a shooting gallery going in front of the net, Marty Turco probably would've looked human. Zach or Steve, doesn't matter - they were going to get smoked with how many chances we gave up this weekend

Nagelvoort earned his starts, but he has to bring it every day in practice and every game. It's not like he's tons better than Racine, so the starting job is a lock for him. We don't know what happened in practice, but if Racine did better, seems to me it makes it easy for Red to make the switch.
February 15th, 2014 at 10:03 PM ^
Er, yay, they only scored 1 PPG in a 5 min major?
February 15th, 2014 at 10:04 PM ^
Either Minnesota is way better than we are or we cannot adjust to the Olympic size ice rink. We had the same problem in Madison. I'll be interested to see how we do next month when we get back to Yost.
February 15th, 2014 at 10:05 PM ^
In any event our block M trumps their upside down W.

Honestly, Gopher guy should have had his head up. Regardless of what the Gopher idiots were saying, Downing kept his elbow down. That's a clean hit, frankly.
