Michigan - Minnesota: Open Thread

Submitted by Sac Fly on

Huge game in the Big Ten standings tonight with Minnesota trying to pull away and Ohio State looking to jump into 2nd place. Michigan State sits at 19 points, one behind the Wolverines. The game is on FSD.

He's been working hard and I think has been the clear #3 creator on offense only behind Copp and Compher. The goals haven't been going in for him like the others but he's making plays and creating offense for us

Anyone else feel this team has gotten worse as the year gone on?  Of course we struggled to score goals with so much talent sigh

We've been able to win because of outstanding goalie play, but our blueline has been playing like this the entire year.

We turn the puck over in the D-Zone 15 times a game and allow half a dozen 2-on-1's. It's catching up to us.

Pretty even game, to be honest.  Both teams pretty sloppy in their own end (us)/the neutral zone (them), Gophers doing a slightly better job of converting.  Our special teams are better than theirs, for what that's worth.

Motte is close behind but not getting quite the same production. Hyman tries hard but seems snake-bit

Everyone else on the top few lines is just underperforming frankly. Boo, PDG, Guptill, Moffatt, etc. Don't know what their deal is but they're useless most of the time. Sometimes I wonder if Guptill even wants to be here anymore (my guess is no)

Consider these two NHL Draft picks! Both in the second round Boo Nieves has not scored in 22 or so games, only 1on the year vs a weak RIT team Phil DiGiseuppe has 1 in the last 16 Because of the lack of offense, there are no guaranteed wins like in the good ole days. Regularly lose exhibition games and colossal losses to RIT last year and at PSU this year.

Either Minnesota is way better than we are or we cannot adjust to the Olympic size ice rink.  We had the same problem in Madison.  I'll be interested to see how we do next month when we get back to Yost.
