Magnuson Out Through Spring

Submitted by alum96 on

Per mlive tweet, Magnuson is gone due to shoulder injury through spring practice.  Not cool - a very thin position and this is our projected starting LT. Sigh.

Hoke said Erik Magnuson won't be available for spring practice with a shoulder injury. Look for David Dawson to rep at tackle.

I think Dawson was always one of those "6'4"-6'5" Guard-or-RT guys, we recruited a lot of them. Quick googling says Michael Oher is 6'4", he's now the Raven's RT. and the first 5 guys I clicked on here: http://espn.go.com/nfl/players/_/position/othttp://espn.go.com/nfl/players/_/position/ot (NFL, all tackles R and L) are 6'7", 3 at 6'5" and one at 6'3".

IIRC, Michigan has not had a starting tackle shorter than 6'6" since Steve Schilling bumped inside to guard for Rich Rodriguez (Lewan, Schofield, Huyge, Ortmann, Dorrestein, etc.).

Just for the board's information, there were other tweets which mentioned that Devin Gardner, Amara Darboh and Drake Johnson would all be limited in spring practice, but how limited was not mentioned. I am sure the full summary is mere moments away, so hopefully we will know more about these players as well later today.

He was getting some positive reviews from practices, but we do seem to have good depth at DB and IIRC he was on the smaller side of DB's they've recently recruited.  And clearly we lack RB depth at the moment.

Position changers rarely amount to much, but lets hope Ross bucks the trend.
