OT -- for Flight Tracker fans

Submitted by 4godkingandwol… on

Thought you Flight Tracker Fans would appreciate this stunt Boeing is doing to support the Seahawks run to the Super Bowl.

As a Lions fan, transplanted in Seattle 6 years ago, I still find it difficult to root for the Seahawks, but the level of fan support and the excitement in this city is really impressive and infectuous.

I show him going backwards on the top of the "2" right now.

EDIT: Oh wait there he goes, maybe he just missed a spot. Very cool, I wonder if anyone is onboard for some joy riding.

I know it is petty but I've rooted against him at every step.  He does seem a good guy and results speak for themselves however.  Definitely rooting for Seahawks for the same reason though.

I've never seen a city with such bandwagon fans. I hate having to deal with the 12th man BS. Most of these people haven't watched a down of football before they started winning. It used to be a "Husky Town" before they went to shit so they all bailed and now the Seahawks rule.

Don't believe the hype, the 12th man is a bunch of software devs that would rather play D&D instead of watching football, but now they have to just to talk about something in the office.

If past experience is any indicator, a loss will have them whining for years about the reffing.  The ones I knew from my time in Everett would not shut up about whatever it was that the refs did to them against the Steelers.  Some pass interference penalty, I forget.

I'd forgotten all about that. My apathy for the Seahawks is only outweighed by my disdain for the Steelers. That was pretty pathetic. Damn near as bad as the first half in the Breslin last Saturday. One that sticks in my mind is that phantom call on Jackson in the end zone. Putrid.

... I think people that hate bandwagon fans or fair weather fans are just jealous.  I think it would be awesome to not have to deal with the devestating lows and still get to participate in the highs.

As I get older, the roller coaster is less and less worth it.  For example, a UM loss on a Saturday used to ruin my entire weekend.  That's unhealthy.  I've gotten to the point, thanks to many years of mediocrity, that I'm only grumpy for a few hours on Saturday now.  If we win, I'm still happy for a full week.  Much better place.

bandwagon fans that know/recognize that they're bandwagon fans aren't ever the problem. Dealing with the lows is what buys credit for gloating about the highs to others in my mind, though; there's a type of fan that will hop on a bandwagon and start talking shit about that team's rivals, and that's not right.

I am a Lions fan. When someone tells you that they are a Lions fan, there is something tangible to that. There are no bandwagon Lions fans. That person has endured a lot of suffering. My mind can't comprehend someone who just cheers for a team when they win. ESPECIALLY when they start rubbing other peoples face in their victory.

Damn right...it's a prolonged and perverse exercise in sado-masochism that I gave up 30 years ago.

Luckily I've been a big Broncos fan since I was a kid because of yearly summer vacations out in Colorado, so I'm rooting hard for Denver. I also despise Carroll, which is reason enough to root for the Broncos.

Except for 4 years spent in North Carolina, I've been in this area since 1991 and I call bullshit. Maybe it's just the people you hang around with, but the fans I know have been die hard as long as I've known them. For most of that time the Hawks sucked so they haven't been talking shit on message boards, but they were following the team. I think they've earned the right to be excited about their team now that they are finally good.

Don't get me wrong there are a lot of fans. I'm talking about the absurd number of bandwagon fans in Seattle though. There were people coming out of the woodwork after the last Superbowl that had never watched a down of football until that game and havent since. Yet they somehow still bitch and moan about the officiating of that game. It's those people that I don't understand. Fuck those people with the heat of a thousand suns. Your friends though, buy em a beer, they deserve it.

Because you spend thousands of hours on MGoBlog you're on some sort of sports moral high ground? Let them enjoy their success. Don't demonize people who weren't fans before, celebrate them because they are now. In 20 years these "unworthy fans" are gonna be indoctrinating their children with sports in their blood just like many people on this big were.

The folks who are Grand Coulee and Spokane-ish, if I remember Washington's geography correctly, are about to experience the twelfth man, it seems. This is actually pretty cool - thanks for sharing it.

Walla Walla, Kennewick and the few places in between - you're on deck.

And was shocked by how many people were in the airport wearing jerseys. 3/4 of them were #12 jerseys with "FAN" on the back. Made me think how strange it would be to see DTW like that with Lions fans.

Being a transplant to Spokane, it is pretty amazing the amount of support thats going on across the whole state. But with that being said, their almost as bad as cowboy fans.
