OT -- for Flight Tracker fans
Thought you Flight Tracker Fans would appreciate this stunt Boeing is doing to support the Seahawks run to the Super Bowl.
As a Lions fan, transplanted in Seattle 6 years ago, I still find it difficult to root for the Seahawks, but the level of fan support and the excitement in this city is really impressive and infectuous.

Fuck sherman, fuck manning

I show him going backwards on the top of the "2" right now.
EDIT: Oh wait there he goes, maybe he just missed a spot. Very cool, I wonder if anyone is onboard for some joy riding.
January 30th, 2014 at 5:30 PM ^
That's dedication.
January 30th, 2014 at 5:32 PM ^
those airplanes are limited in the bank angle they can turn at...I'm sure it could be a lot of fun towards the middle of the downside of that 2.
January 30th, 2014 at 5:33 PM ^
Crazy how many Seattle "fans" there are now. I wonder who their new team will be in a few years.
January 30th, 2014 at 5:41 PM ^
I'd say there's a helluva lot more new Denver fans now than new Seattle fans.
January 30th, 2014 at 6:13 PM ^
Here in Indiana, we call them Colts fans.
January 30th, 2014 at 6:27 PM ^
Yea I seem to notice a lot of the newer Broncos fans are only rooting for them
because of Peyton. Which is understandable.
January 30th, 2014 at 6:56 PM ^
because of their back up QB, I watched him grow up, spent a lot of time at their house when he was growing up. (His sisters and I were good friends) I will always be a Browns fan, so it is hard to root for the Broncos, but have mad respect for Zac Dysert.. (see youtube for the Drive 1&2.. Damn you John Elway)
January 30th, 2014 at 5:44 PM ^
... fans outside of Seattle rooting for the Seahawks? I was under the impression that everybody hated them based on 1) Pete Carrol and 2) Richard Sherman.
I myself am indifferent. Not a Carrol fan, don't care either way for Sherman. Like to see my local friends happy, though.
January 30th, 2014 at 6:18 PM ^
Eagles fan here, but I have been rooting for Seattle once they were knocked out of the playoffs. I enjoy their team identity of a physical defense and run game.
Centurylink should be on every NFL fan's bucket list. Very cool venue.
January 30th, 2014 at 6:33 PM ^
Therefore I enjoy the Seahawks.
I also enjoy the Broncos currently.
Therefore the Super Bowl will be very enjoyable for me.
January 30th, 2014 at 8:15 PM ^
While I think Manning is a good guy and a great QB I still am salty about 97.
January 31st, 2014 at 2:12 PM ^
I know it is petty but I've rooted against him at every step. He does seem a good guy and results speak for themselves however. Definitely rooting for Seahawks for the same reason though.
January 30th, 2014 at 5:34 PM ^
I've never seen a city with such bandwagon fans. I hate having to deal with the 12th man BS. Most of these people haven't watched a down of football before they started winning. It used to be a "Husky Town" before they went to shit so they all bailed and now the Seahawks rule.
Don't believe the hype, the 12th man is a bunch of software devs that would rather play D&D instead of watching football, but now they have to just to talk about something in the office.
January 30th, 2014 at 5:36 PM ^
so salty, i love it.
January 30th, 2014 at 5:39 PM ^
if they lose, they'll disappear as quickly as they appeared.
January 30th, 2014 at 6:07 PM ^
If past experience is any indicator, a loss will have them whining for years about the reffing. The ones I knew from my time in Everett would not shut up about whatever it was that the refs did to them against the Steelers. Some pass interference penalty, I forget.
January 30th, 2014 at 7:50 PM ^
If the Lions get to a Super Bowl in my lifetime and they have officiating go against them like the Hawks did in SB XL, there's a good chance I'll kill someone.
January 30th, 2014 at 8:12 PM ^
I'd forgotten all about that. My apathy for the Seahawks is only outweighed by my disdain for the Steelers. That was pretty pathetic. Damn near as bad as the first half in the Breslin last Saturday. One that sticks in my mind is that phantom call on Jackson in the end zone. Putrid.
January 30th, 2014 at 9:13 PM ^
during my lifetime, I am going to do something that gets me arrested. I'm not sure what, but yeah the possibility exists.
January 31st, 2014 at 7:24 AM ^
Steal the Megatron jersey off The Spirit of Detroit. You can commit to the plan now because you'll never have to actually DO it.
January 30th, 2014 at 6:00 PM ^
I've worked at Microsoft and several other local tech companies, and most techies couldn't care less about football.
January 30th, 2014 at 9:05 PM ^
Agree Rich. The bandwagon is getting full.
That being said - Seattle is in desperate need of a title. Can't wait until Sunday.
January 30th, 2014 at 6:19 PM ^
SF bandwagoners are ten times more intolerable than Seattle bandwagoners. America is better off with SEA in the championship bagel.
January 30th, 2014 at 6:30 PM ^
and all of the points. 100% agree.
January 30th, 2014 at 6:34 PM ^
So they've got some city pride and are having fun feeling part of something. More power to them, I say.
January 30th, 2014 at 6:41 PM ^
... I think people that hate bandwagon fans or fair weather fans are just jealous. I think it would be awesome to not have to deal with the devestating lows and still get to participate in the highs.
As I get older, the roller coaster is less and less worth it. For example, a UM loss on a Saturday used to ruin my entire weekend. That's unhealthy. I've gotten to the point, thanks to many years of mediocrity, that I'm only grumpy for a few hours on Saturday now. If we win, I'm still happy for a full week. Much better place.
January 30th, 2014 at 8:07 PM ^
bandwagon fans that know/recognize that they're bandwagon fans aren't ever the problem. Dealing with the lows is what buys credit for gloating about the highs to others in my mind, though; there's a type of fan that will hop on a bandwagon and start talking shit about that team's rivals, and that's not right.
January 30th, 2014 at 6:41 PM ^
I am a Lions fan. When someone tells you that they are a Lions fan, there is something tangible to that. There are no bandwagon Lions fans. That person has endured a lot of suffering. My mind can't comprehend someone who just cheers for a team when they win. ESPECIALLY when they start rubbing other peoples face in their victory.
January 30th, 2014 at 6:48 PM ^
Lions fandom is a hell of a different beast.
January 30th, 2014 at 7:06 PM ^
Damn right...it's a prolonged and perverse exercise in sado-masochism that I gave up 30 years ago.
Luckily I've been a big Broncos fan since I was a kid because of yearly summer vacations out in Colorado, so I'm rooting hard for Denver. I also despise Carroll, which is reason enough to root for the Broncos.
January 30th, 2014 at 7:43 PM ^
I'm also a Lions fan, and it hurts. If they're ever really contenders in my lifetime I'm gonna talk a lot of shit. I feel I've earned it.
January 30th, 2014 at 8:09 PM ^
It would be like owning a cat and not having to feed it or take care of its poop. We pay our dues to enjoy the good times in sports fandom, unless you're a Browns fan and spend an eternity in Hell.
January 30th, 2014 at 7:14 PM ^
reminds me of many of the chicago blackhawks fans in the last few years.
January 30th, 2014 at 7:40 PM ^
Except for 4 years spent in North Carolina, I've been in this area since 1991 and I call bullshit. Maybe it's just the people you hang around with, but the fans I know have been die hard as long as I've known them. For most of that time the Hawks sucked so they haven't been talking shit on message boards, but they were following the team. I think they've earned the right to be excited about their team now that they are finally good.
January 30th, 2014 at 9:10 PM ^
Don't get me wrong there are a lot of fans. I'm talking about the absurd number of bandwagon fans in Seattle though. There were people coming out of the woodwork after the last Superbowl that had never watched a down of football until that game and havent since. Yet they somehow still bitch and moan about the officiating of that game. It's those people that I don't understand. Fuck those people with the heat of a thousand suns. Your friends though, buy em a beer, they deserve it.
January 31st, 2014 at 12:34 AM ^
Because you spend thousands of hours on MGoBlog you're on some sort of sports moral high ground? Let them enjoy their success. Don't demonize people who weren't fans before, celebrate them because they are now. In 20 years these "unworthy fans" are gonna be indoctrinating their children with sports in their blood just like many people on this big were.

What's D&D? I've heard of WOW but have no idea what what this one is
January 30th, 2014 at 5:38 PM ^
The folks who are Grand Coulee and Spokane-ish, if I remember Washington's geography correctly, are about to experience the twelfth man, it seems. This is actually pretty cool - thanks for sharing it.
Walla Walla, Kennewick and the few places in between - you're on deck.
January 30th, 2014 at 5:41 PM ^
And was shocked by how many people were in the airport wearing jerseys. 3/4 of them were #12 jerseys with "FAN" on the back. Made me think how strange it would be to see DTW like that with Lions fans.
January 30th, 2014 at 8:11 PM ^
Freaking cowboy hats everywhere on 240-pound guys.

Being a transplant to Spokane, it is pretty amazing the amount of support thats going on across the whole state. But with that being said, their almost as bad as cowboy fans.
