Damien Harris Decommits Comment Count

Brian

This is very 2013 of you, recruiting.

Sam Webb is reporting that Damien Harris is no longer a Michigan commit($).

panic[3]

For what it's worth, his mom says that "Michigan is #1, and that hasn't changed," but that he wants to make sure he goes through the recruiting process and whatnot; also Borges's departure was a factor. (His high school coach used to be a GA for Borges.) Time will tell whether this is like the Jabrill Peppers wavering or more like George Campbell. Nussmeier made his first stop as OC Madison Southern, Harris's high school, so Michigan is on it, insofar as they can be on it.

I suggest we immediately move Fred Jackson to Beverage Coordinator and hire Mike Hart but that's just me.

Seconded! (Also, FJ would be great at that job, with his experience and all.)

Ohh well.  That still leaves plenty of depth, and if Rawls leaves now...........I don't think we lose anyone after the 2014 season.  I'd gladly welcome another O-line or D-line guy with that scholarship as those spots are much harder to evaluate talent.  The more depth the better on the lines.

Could this be because M is chasing 2014 running backs all over the place? I wondered out loud a couple days ago what kind of affect the might have on Harris' psyche. It could be the Borges thing but if we get J. Jones, as it seems we may, you have to wonder if that's not seen as a 'threat' to his playing time.

You are a little behind the times. Sam Webb said yesterday that it looks like Michigan will strike out on all three 2014 RBs -- Jones, Mack, and Ballage.  Partially due to academics, supposedly.  Harris' HS coach is friends with Borges, which is why the Borges firing had such a large effect on him.

The kid needs to do what is best for him.  Alabama has had alot of running backs drafted, and playing for coach Nuss can't hurt.     Hopefully he comes back around.  There is alot of time to go.

"Michigan is #1"

That's kind of like when a girl dumps you and says she still wants to be friends.

I'm not expecting a re-commit, if it happens that would be cool, but probably not.

We're going to have to get some running backs now in the 2014 (maybe) and 2015 classes.

i agree with you.  right now, i am not phased that we lost our two best players in the 2015 class, because in all honesty it doesn't matter.  In my opinion, our coaching staff have not shown the ability to maximize anyones potential yet. I know I will get attacked but that is my opinion and wont change till i see significant player improvement happen married with results.  I am worried more about our coaching capabilities, and how our program continues to stand still while other programs are passing us by.  I would like to see from Hoke more position coaching changes.  but i am sure we wont see it, but whatever.  I will see how hoke does in year 4 and whether the fan base will be still saying next year in our year.  and next year never coming

They could hypothetically have Green and Smith around through the end of the 2016 season so there will be guys here that are really good. But I think it will be important to have RBs in the 2015 class so they can take over for those guys or to add depth, espically if one of them leaves early.
