LaVall Jordan Appreciation Thread

Submitted by ypsituckyboy on

The progress of our guards under the guidance of Coach Jordan has been nothing short of extraordinary and it was on full display tonight. The pick and roll was unstoppable for most of the game and Coach Jordan should receive some of the praise for that. This is clearly a superbly coached team.

In the past four years, we've had the pleasure of seeing Morris, Burke, Hardaway, Walton, Stauskus, and LeVert improve at an extremely accelerated rate. No doubt those players have put in a great deal of work themselves (as we've seen on YouTube), but I think Coach Jordan deserves plenty of praise for his guidance during each players' improvement process.

I get the feeling that other schools around the country are taking note and I think sooner rather than later he'll make a very fine branch on the Beilein coaching tree (maybe even here). Let's appreciate him while we have him.

I do hope Jordan Ida coach in waiting at UofM, afterall he passed on his alma mater...

Also much appreciation for Bacari who has Morgan and Horford playing at a great level. I expected a tire fire when McGary went down, but the bigs have played very well splitting his minutes.

to see how solid a coaching staff Michigan Basketball has. These guys are impressive.. and I hope they can stick together for a long while still. I am always worried about Coach Bacari but so far he's still hanging around.

Anyway- keep the good young talent coming through and these guys will show them the way. Hopefully recruits take notice.

I agree this staff seems to develop talent very well. Seems like every time we need someone to "step up" we get what we need for the most part. As mentioned above the bigs are playing at a high level minimizing the impact of McGary being gone. You can never replace a guy like McGary you just can't, but our bigs are certainly taking advantage of the time they have on the court. I hope we hang on to this staff for as long as possible. Michigan basketball is exciting and I just get giddy every time I watch them play.

He probably should have gotten the Butler job. Their loss is our gain.

It's only a matter of time before he lands a head coaching gig, though. As much as I would love to hold on to him indefinitely, he deserves his shot.

He has talked about his approach to coaching in interviews before and I really do like it - he emphasizes playing well but also smart and develops the player in favor of running a play per se. It is something we have seen work extremely well as he does coach the guards, and when you look at how much the guards have contributed and how early, Jordan's approach seems to fit incredibly well into both Beilein's overall apprach and work to quickly develop great guards. Voach Jordan is a tremendous asset to this team.

Coach Jordan at Meijer off Zeeb & Jackson. He was buying apples. The apples were green like Miss Lippy's car.  I appreciate his choice in apples and the fact he does his own grocery shopping.

I appreciate you creating this thread. I 100% agree with how instrumental he has been in helping our guards progress as well as they have. I know this has been reiterated in this thread, but thank you Butler for not hiring Coach L.

Is responsible for the bugs should get mentioned as well. Horford and Morgan are beasts this year. Incredible progression.

I fear the big rotation next year without them or mcgary, if he leaves.
