Hello: Kyle Seychel (preferred walk-on kicker/punter)
Saw this on Twitter. Kyle Seychel is a kicker/punter from Hartland, Michigan, class of 2014.
Kyle Seychel just committed to Michigan as a preferred walk-on (Fab 50 #3 PK/#5 P) http://t.co/6pndroGagg #GoBlue
— Brandon Kornblue (@KornblueKicking) January 18, 2014
From his Kornblue Kicking profile:
Kyle is one of the top combo prospects in the class of 2014. He has as much potential as any specialist we have ever worked with in Michigan, and that includes numerous Division 1 scholarship athletes. . . . We don’t say this often, but Kyle has NFL potential.

Welcome to michigan

You beat me by two minutes! Welcome, Kyle!
He's a three star kicker at ESPN. Because of his position and ranking, isn't he more likely to contribute than most walk-ons?

We have all your recruits.

Best of luck to you.

The link to his Kornblue Kicking profile - (HERE)
A small sample of yardage and hang time from a camp appearance is quoted -
At the September 2013 Michigan Fab 50 Camp, Kyle charted a kickoff of 77 yards/4.0 HT. His 5 kickoffs averaged 71/4.05. His first 6 punts charted 4.22/38, 4.53/45, 4.09/30, 4.25/43, 4.4/44, and 4.4/48. We don’t say this often, but Kyle has NFL potential.
Welcome to Michigan, Kyle Seychel!

Sorry for duplicating your post. I was updating the OP with the Kornblue info at the same time you were posting this.

Anybody know if Kyle is related to former Michigan hockey player Chris Seychel? Chris scored 65 goals, including an impressive 26-goal freshman season, for Michigan from 1982 to 1986.
January 18th, 2014 at 5:17 PM ^
- Googled Chris Seychel
- found his facebook (confirmed UofM Class of '86)
- looked to see if Kyle was listed as a family member. He is not
- However, Chris and Kyle are friends as Kyle showed up in his list of public friends
- Chris apparently lives in Howell which is right by Hartland which is where Kyle goes to school
- So I would guess Kyle Seychel is indeed Chris Seychel's son
So after that thorough creeping, it's time for me to take a break from the interweb for a while

That's the beautiful thing about this board. If i resist the urge to creep because of some rationality telling me to stop because it's absurd, even though deep down I really want to, there's always another member that has gone ahead and did your dirty work. Bravo.

At least we'll have someone with a year on campus and a year at kicker at before David arrives to challenge for the starting spot as a true freshman.

Think you are forgetting about JJ McGrath

Seems like a great get. Welcome to UM.

January 18th, 2014 at 9:59 PM ^
I hear kicking is their Achilles heel
January 18th, 2014 at 6:43 PM ^
I hope you can be smiling like this when you punt against OSU.
January 18th, 2014 at 6:55 PM ^
Here's Seychel kicking off during a Hartland game this season. Doesn't take much to imagine what he'll look like in the Big House.
January 18th, 2014 at 7:02 PM ^
I wish my high school had worn a winged helmet. I am 36 and still get a jealous when I see photos like this.
January 18th, 2014 at 7:39 PM ^
Pants are the wrong color.
He's not a Michigan Man.
January 18th, 2014 at 8:31 PM ^
Correct. At the time of the photo he was a Michigan Teen.
January 18th, 2014 at 7:07 PM ^
Awesome!
January 18th, 2014 at 8:14 PM ^
Mark Messner? All-American D-line, had a cup of tea in the NFL.
January 18th, 2014 at 8:33 PM ^
Messner is from Hartland? If so, and Kyle becomes Hartland's most famous Michigan football player, we have some amazing things to look forward to from our kicking game. Messner rocked.
January 18th, 2014 at 10:24 PM ^
Even though it says Novi, Michigan (where Detroit Catholic Central is) Shallman is a Hartland kid as well. Interesting to see Seychel's video. Looks like he is using Howell's field which is a close competitor in their league. Also think there is a wrestler going to Michigan from Hartland although I can't remember his name. He was in a lighter weight class and dad was a big time wrestler at the school.
January 18th, 2014 at 11:14 PM ^
Great info, thanks. Still going with Messner as the bar to reach.
February 1st, 2014 at 11:01 AM ^
It does look likes Howell field but, living in the Hartland area Hartland high's studium has grass and is always locked up. Very easy to get on Howells field at any time. Maybe he figured that out
January 18th, 2014 at 8:17 PM ^
Supposed to be a response to an above post that Seychel is now Hartland's most famous alum.
January 18th, 2014 at 8:34 PM ^
Did a quick search—while Messner was from Hartland, he didn't attend Hartland HS. He's an alum of Catholic Central.
January 18th, 2014 at 9:56 PM ^
Followed the same path.Ann Arbor via CC/Hartland.
January 18th, 2014 at 8:23 PM ^
If he was on scholarship he wouldn't be able to sell seychels down by the seyshore... :/
January 18th, 2014 at 8:38 PM ^
: / indeed.
Maybe even :(
If you want to take it beyond the keyboard it might even be
January 18th, 2014 at 8:48 PM ^
Isn't he the antagonist in "The Merchant of Venice"? EDIT: alleged antagonist.
January 18th, 2014 at 8:49 PM ^
Kid looks pretty good. You can never have to many kickers.
January 18th, 2014 at 9:53 PM ^
actually look better
January 18th, 2014 at 10:00 PM ^
and thanks for Going Blue!
January 18th, 2014 at 10:01 PM ^
Hope he earns a scholie (if that's in play at all). Punters (and kickers) are underrated in my book. Turn the field over when you are deep in your own territory can really change the face of the game. Cool that he also kicks off, good to have backup capabilities in case the primary KO or FG guy goes down.
January 18th, 2014 at 10:28 PM ^
if he likes brunettes?
January 18th, 2014 at 10:51 PM ^
Nice creds; hope you meet the expectations as an NFL caliber punter.
