Drew Stanton said he cried when Nussmeier left Michigan State.  Not too much of a logical leap to suggest DelRio might have been similarly crushed.

both so hard to tell.  My gut says it's only partly because Nuss left.   Mostly because of his 3rd string roster spot and the influx of talent at Alabama.   I'd love to be wrong and see that he announced his transfer to Michigan, though.

Alabama will have Sims, Bateman, McLeod, and Cornwell on the roster next year. For a 3* recruit who walked-on, I'm guessing he's looking for a place he can play.

"I had an incredible year at Bama, it's sad to say that it will be my last..."

Wonder if he was a victim of the $EC way. i.e. forcing him out to make room for others.

...Not sure why he'd transfer here, other than Nuss and comfort with his system. He is buried on the depth chart and is a walk-on at 'Bama. He'd likely be buried on our depth chart as well. If he comes here, it would likely still be as a walk-on when he could probably get a scholy elsewhere.

If he comes here, it would be a pleasant shock, and show an amazing amount of loyalty that Nuss generates, but seems highly doubtful.

I think this is just normal college attrition. A guy burried on the depth chart at an elite program wants playing time somewhere else. Likely has nothing to do with old or new OC

to a college program like Alabama and believe he will beat out the highly recruited players? Also, why would highly recruited players agree to go to a football program when the program has a stockpile of top players at the position they seek especially if the have offers elsewhere?

it was scott dreisbach, who won the battle as underclassmen.  i think everyone knew griese had a great shot to play here when he signed on.  his dad made enough dough, so a scholly wasn't an issue really.

Alabama wasn't really stockpiled at QB when Del Rio walked on.

After AJ McCarron won the job, Phillip Sims and Phillip Ely transfered. Blake Sims had switched from running back to quarterback the year before and Del Rio, McCleod and Bateman were all freshman.

It looked like there could have been an opportunity for him to win the job this season.

Obviously as the son of an NFL Coordinator/Head Coach, money wasn't a huge issue for his family but I was shocked when he decommitted (i think from OK St.) to walk on at Bama. When he did so it looked like Bama might never lose again, which has been debunked...but this seems a logical conclusion to a weird situation, hope he lands on his feet somewhere.

Anyone have the same reaction I did.  Not knowing what position this kid is or his relative skill level, I assumed a post about this kid would be, you know, actually worth all of us knowing.  Five-star, something like that....

And then I saw, he's a WALK ON.  And it's like... ok, why am I reading this?

So there goes a minute of my life I won't get back.  And you can't say, "well you didn't have to read the post."  I only realized this was a waste of electrons until after I started reading it.

I totally saw this coming. Dude turns down a full ride at places like Okie State, Oregon State, and CSU to walk-on at Bama and then is shocked when he's stuck behind Cooper Bateman and now (presumably) Ricky Town?

I'm not so sure that he was buried as far on the depth chart as far as many saying.  I know I'll sound crazy, but yesterday the link I've added said to look for Del Rio to possibly emerge as the starter for Alabama this year.  It has obviosly been updated since then- the title says 9 freshman but in the body it says 10, and Alabama is still tagged after the story.  The section was written by a supposed Alabama insider.
