Which player will benefit the most from Nuss?
As we welcome the Age of Nuss, which current player on the roster do you think will benefit the most from him?
My vote: Dennis Norfleet
Yes, Nuss will have a field day with the likes of Gardner, Morris, Chesson and our big TE/WR hybrids... but no one was being overlooked more then Norfleet in last years offense. I can see Nuss finding creative ways of getting Norfleet out into space to create a conundrum for the defense, especially with his electrifying speed.
Who is your pick and why?

The fans.
More particularly...
My neighbors. My couch or anything within a reachable distance. My dog (not a fan of when dad yells at the TV).

Myself as well. I get banished to the basement (the bigger tv but whatever) becuase I scare the dog and my wife doesn't want to hear it. She's from Canada and we live in Columbus. She has said she doesn't get college attachment here and proves it by saying I should just root for OSU since we live here.

I'm sure she's a wonderful, beautiful woman and glad that she's aware that are a lot more important things than college football, but I still would like her to form an account so I can neg her.

Morris. undoubtedly. Go beyond Alabama and look at his track record with QBs.
January 11th, 2014 at 9:26 AM ^
I'm going to say Devin (G). He clearly was not comfortable with Al at the Helm; I think Nuss will help Devin achieve the expectations we had for him in '13.
January 11th, 2014 at 10:21 AM ^
Devin only has him for a year. Shane will have at least two years with him, so I think he benefits more.
January 11th, 2014 at 10:42 AM ^
if Nussmeier lasts more than 2 seasons here. He's a ladder climber. He'll either go up to the next step or fall off.
January 11th, 2014 at 4:05 PM ^
That's why I said two years. Morris could be here for three more.

When State isn't winning, couches aren't burning. Right? Either that or there's no correlation.

If someone starts talking about how awesome Sean Morrison will be at QB, how seriously are you going to listen to them?
Is it too much to ask that people analyzing our roster and making predictions know who is on the roster?
January 11th, 2014 at 9:11 AM ^
screwed up the words to a song because it sounded one way to you, but in actuality was a different word?
And don't tell me you havent, because we all have.
Ease up, turbo.
January 11th, 2014 at 9:14 AM ^
Bad analogy. The words to the song arent on the back of the jersey.

Go have a cup of coffee or something and come back when you're in a better mood.
Edit: there, its fixed. Hopefully you can go on with the rest of your day now.

I think saying "Norfleet" to his own question also discredited him in the eyes of some. It's an opinion and I suppose it could be true. But even when I first read it I was like "wait, what?"
Norfleet doesn't start, he's a RB/WR hybrid and Nussmeier has no history of doing anything major with guys like this.
It's like the OP heard Nuss say "we're going to find opportnities to get guys in space" and then rushed to MGoBlog to make a thread with Norfleet in mind.
Also interesting that Chesson was wrong, but he didn't say Northfleet, typically that is the misspelling we get the most.
Very curious I say. Nonetheless, it's a 100% opinion thread, so opinion on my friends!

Beforehand, sure.
But Chesson has been around forever now and his name is printed for people to read and spell on recruiting sites, the official roster, a google search, or just the back of his jersey.
I'd understand if we were just hearing the last name, trust me, people get mine wrong all the time when they just hear it.
But this is a little different than hearing a song.
I also think that it's different for someone in the OP vs. someone in the middle of the thread. If you're going to make a thread, spell the players' names correctly. You've got the time to make the thread..."do it right."
I can understand more for any post within the thread...you're usually just typing as fast as you can to respond and hit submit. I do it all the time, I don't think I misspell names, but I misspell everything else.
It may be weird, but I think that's the difference. If it was within the thread...it's haha, c'mon man. If it's the OP...it's #facepalm. There aren't THAT many guys on the team.
BTW, I'm referring to MICHIGAN players, I think it's tacky to misspell other teams players in the OP as well, but Michigan is by far worse on a Michigan blog.
Just my 2 cents.

Had you used it correctly, Tloy Woolfork, you wouldn't have had a problem.
January 11th, 2014 at 9:28 AM ^
I agree with your logic, but people get the spelling wrong on peoples names all over the board more than just once in a while. Why must we eat our young about it? Why does the snark need to fly.
"Its 'Chesson' by the way" is a lot better than "Who is Chessum" when the intended player is obvious.
I'm spending a lot of two cents today.
January 11th, 2014 at 9:38 AM ^
...and truthfully, I go facepalm, but I don't care. However, if you do misspell it, I kind of think you have to take whatever comes your way (to an extent). So a "who is Chessum?" comment isn't that bad in my eyes and you almost deserve it a little. Doesn't mean it's the end of the world, to me it's like "haha, okay guys, my bad."
Personally, and this is just me. I don't like it because it's a STAEE moment, like "HAHA! Michigan fans can't even spell their own players names correctly" and because it makes the OP sound like he/she doesn't know what he/she is talking about...for me, it discredits them some.
Again, if it's within the thread, I just chalk it up to moving too fast and responding too quickly.
January 11th, 2014 at 9:41 AM ^
and I'll only add this: A very good point can get lost and covered up by the nature of a inaccurately spelled word, and that is a shame.
Not saying it was in this case, again just highlighting the mentality we have about it at times.
I'll go have MY coffee now and come back when I'M in a better mood, too. :-)

I would think that numerous players probably will experience some benefit from Doug Nussmeier being on staff. Most notably, because of the QB background alone, I think Devin Gardner and Shane Morris will reap numerous benefits from this change. The running back position probably will get even more interesting with Green and Smith probably getting the most action in single back sets like those that Nussmeier seems to prefer.
January 11th, 2014 at 9:13 AM ^
...FBs will benefit the least?
January 11th, 2014 at 9:12 AM ^
Norfleet doesn't have "electrifying speed." His quickness and shiftiness is top notch, but he's not a track star or burner, at least not on the field. I do think Nussmeier finds ways to get him in space, but that really wasn't his "M.O." anytime at Alabama. If we hired someone from Oregon, I'd agree wth Norfleet, but there is nothing about Nussmeier that really says that...in fact, I can't even think of a similar player on Alabama that actually played (sorry Dee Hart).
Borges also tried to find ways for Norfleet even though they tipped the play and were all gimmick/jet sweep type plays. Norfleet very well may have been better off under Borges than Nussmeier.
Switching gears...I kind of feel bad for Nussmeier (until I see his paycheck), we've hyped him to be a cross between Christ The Redeemer and Albus Dumbledore. This hype for an OC is UNBELIEVABLE. I'm just waiting for the "What should be Nussmeier's first play call at Michigan" Thread.
To not troll the thread and answer the question...the answer is likely Shane Morris or Derrick Green. Morris will have a year in the system before taking over with 2 years left. Green has to love what Nuss did with Derrick Henry (they were 1 and 2 in most RB ratings 2 years ago).
Another answer...Brady Hoke. This hire temporarily buys Hoke more time and takes all of the heat off of him until probably midway through next year.
