Don't know if I will stay up to watch this one. I hate that National Championships are played during the week, and don't start at or before 7. Oh well, mini rant over.
Please let FSU win. I am tired of this SEC crap.
January 6th, 2014 at 10:21 AM ^
I do not understand why they do that. I don't think I've made it through a full BCS championship game in years because of this 'work' thing I have to get up for at 6 am the next day.
Literally any other night would be better. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. All better.

If I'm going to stay up late and be tired, it's a lot better with only 1 or 2 work days left that week than still 4 more. Maybe that's personal preference, but I'm much more ok with being exhausted on Thursday or Friday knowing that the weekend is right around the corner
I get that the NFL is king of football which takes the weekend, but what about Thursday or Friday night? I don't understand why they picked Monday of all nights
January 6th, 2014 at 11:00 AM ^
there's always going to be the conflict with NFL playoff games. And since the networks don't want to try and compete with that, voila - Monday night is what we get. I agree with you though. Monday night sucks as do pretty much all the other weeknights except maybe Friday.
January 6th, 2014 at 11:22 AM ^
I get that. Maybe the NFL should GTFO. Or do 1 saturday games, 2 Sunday, and a Monday night. Or fergodsakes, all year long you have 3 damn time slots on Sunday, why can't you have 3 playoff games the week of the National Championship?
Sure the Monday Night winner has one less day to prep, but so does that team facing the Monday night winner so STFU NFL. No one wants to hear your bitching!
In addition to the NCG being played on a Sunday, we can move back those shitty GoDaddy bowls to before New Years where they belong
January 6th, 2014 at 12:26 PM ^
It wasn't their idea to have college footbal play after New Years Day. The NFL has stayed away from Saturdays until after the college season ends for years. It also doesn't touch New Years Day. College is moving in on them, not vice versa.
January 6th, 2014 at 12:24 PM ^
I just don't understand why the powers that be are so stupid - they do it with both Football and Basketball. College sports make their hay on Saturday. It's College Football Saturday not CFB Monday. Thankfully the NFL has become a little smarter and moved the Super Bowl start time up.
I don't even know if I'll bother watching at all - I mean, I don't really care to watch the first half of a game I know I won't get to finish on top of the even more than usual commercials I think I'll just watch some TV shows I have on the DVR.
P.S. I'm glad to see you're getting up votes - I've been making this same argument to my friends and they keep saying I'm the only person who has a problem with it being on a Monday.

In some of my confidence picks (I was in 4 pools), I actually had this game as one I was most confident in, which means I will likely be unpleasantly surprised tomorrow and win absolutely nothing. In any case, I am pretty sure that Florida State wins this by at least a score, so I will take a stab at this - 40-30-ish in favor of the Seminoles as the finisher to the last year of the BCS, a year being somewhat unkind to the SEC.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:26 AM ^
Auburn is going to win this game 38-35 after Winston, playing a previously flawless game, botches the victory formation snap, fumbles, and Auburn returns it to the house for a TD with no time left on the clock.
Why would this happen? The real question is, after watching Auburn play Georgia and Bama this year, ask yourself why wouldn't it happen?
January 6th, 2014 at 9:37 AM ^
January 6th, 2014 at 9:55 AM ^
it was that they were about as deep as a piece of paper and they were just not as good as their 12-0 record would suggest otherwise. Pick the #2 team in the SEC last year, and it would have been a better game. Bama still would have won though..they would have beaten any other team in the NCAA.
January 6th, 2014 at 12:19 PM ^
I was just going to say...
January 6th, 2014 at 12:04 PM ^
Auburn's whole season is defined by dumb luck. Why would it stop now?It could/will stop because dumb luck is random and unreliable. Now Auburn might win because they are a physical team that featuring a very prolific offense, but suggesting that random chance is their best path to victory means they aren't winning.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:27 AM ^
The game is even enough early to make people think Auburn has a legit shot. The Seminoles have started slowly a couple times this year before steamrolling teams in the second half. By the 4th Q, FSU scores enough to win comfortably over a team that has gotten this far by escaping a lot of close games. This one won't be close enough for luck to help Auburn this time.
Florida State 45
Auburn 28

I believe that FSU is a much more balanced team. Auburn can run and that seems to be about it. I'm going to predict a double digit win for FSU, 10-14 points.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:51 AM ^
This sounds about right. FSU is just a complete team.

As long as FSU wins I will be happy - I am so sick of the SEC.
Here's an interesting tidbit - if Auburn does win that will make the last five MNC have come from the state of Alabama. That's pretty unreal if you think about it.

likely want Auburn to lose. With Alabama losing - this would be losses to the SEC's 2 "best" teams ... which would at least give pause to all the "experts". Prediction ... meh
Go Blue!
January 6th, 2014 at 10:23 AM ^
Except for ole Finebaum, who still thinks the SEC is the best conference and said so on national TV.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:48 AM ^
I had Alabama pasting Oklahoma, which shows how much I know.
Still, I like FSU in this ... FSU 49 Auburn 31.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:50 AM ^
This isn't off topic, but I think the Seminoles win. I'm really looking forward to this game.

mmmmmm
Now I am craving a blueberry bagel with strawberry cream cheese.
January 6th, 2014 at 11:24 AM ^
War of the Berry flavor Bagels. Nice.
If I could do a bagel right now it would be an Everything Bagel, with Plain Cream Cheese. #WarBagels
January 6th, 2014 at 11:54 AM ^
I'm also a huge fan of asiago cheese bagels with plain cream cheese. If bagels were not soo bad for us, I would eat one daily; I love them.

You can never go wrong with plain cream cheese, but man, that strawberry flavor is phenomenal.
Cinnamon bagels are also extremely good.

FSU wins, earns immediate invite from SEC and kicks out Mississippi State 45 seconds after the final whistle, Auburn fans in attendance chant, "SEC! SEC!" and brag about conference's Nth straight national title.
January 6th, 2014 at 10:21 AM ^
This is why I try to read all posts in a thread before I type anything. I was going to post a facetious scenario very similar to this.

January 6th, 2014 at 10:54 AM ^
I remember when both the SEC and ACC wanted FSU to join their conferences. When FSU joined the ACC, SEC supporters down here were pissed. In response, there was a flood of FSU T-shirts that said "The SEC can kiss our ACC".
Today would be a good day to bring those shirts out of retirement.
January 6th, 2014 at 11:12 AM ^
They didn't have to put up with the "GIRLS' SCHOOL" taunts from ESS, EEE, SEE fans because even when they went to the ACC they were still playing Miami (YTM) and the Steve Spurrier-coached Florida Gators every year..plus any other out-of-conference opponent that would have them, on the road or in Tallahassee.
And thier plan worked, mostly. They're playing for their 3rd national championship since switching to the ACC...as many as Alabama and Florida have won , more than LSU.
January 6th, 2014 at 12:33 PM ^
Oh, wait.
A real, make believe plus 1 to you sir.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:53 AM ^
This Auburn run seems too magical to end with a loss. FSU hasn't been in a close game all year - you can make the argument that Winston hasn't even been in a pressure situation yet in his career.
Auburn 41 FSU 31

Under Armour shoes made by kids in the far east. The quality is fuckin' garbage. Nike, although you may have just let me explore my career ambitions with another shoe company, I respect you.

I have a tough time believing that Auburn has a shot. Three of Auburn's four legit wins took an insane amount of luck. In addition to the obvious miracles against Georgia and Alabama, they had the good fortune of knocking Johnny Manziel out of the game against A&M. Manziel left the game in the 4th quarter before a 3rd and goal from the 2 with his team up 7, he re-entered the game after missing a full series down 4. They lost by that same 4 point total. It's not hard to imagine that if Manziel stays in, they go up two TD's and Auburn's miracle run is over before it even begins.
Florida State meanwhile has the best defense Auburn will have faced all season and probably the best offense. I would not be surprised to see a blowout.
January 6th, 2014 at 10:36 AM ^
In my 10,000 ft. view of the game, all FSU has to do is slow down Aurburn's run game and it's game over.
January 6th, 2014 at 10:17 AM ^
FSU and Auburn both have great offenses. The key difference is that FSU has a great defense and Auburn does not.
FSU 46
Auburn 22

F.S.U. big, 42 to 24.

FSU 48-27. Take away the "debacle" against Boston College, where they squeaked by with a margin of 14 points, the closest game was Miami with a 27 point win. I think Auburn keeps it "close" and loses by 3 TD's.
