Wunderground.com says it's a balmy 5.6 degrees in Green Bay.
January 5th, 2014 at 4:53 PM ^
It says we are having freezing fog in AA. WTF is freezing fog? Ice crystals suspended in the air?

A lot different from the -13 to -19 that was being mentioned
January 5th, 2014 at 4:26 PM ^
I believe this is the first NFL game to be played in the Hoth system. Roger Goodell truly is making the NFL an intergalactic affair.
As a note, Massey predicts an 82% win probability for San Francisco and a median projected score of 29-19 for this game.

What would you do without your stats? A true slave to the numbers. Thanks for always being quick on the draw to add the info.
January 5th, 2014 at 6:16 PM ^
So Green Bay will win?
January 5th, 2014 at 6:44 PM ^
I say we keep up with the NFL! UM vs. ND in London!
January 5th, 2014 at 4:31 PM ^
How's the game coming in for you guys? It's barely watchable here in Indiana.
January 5th, 2014 at 5:06 PM ^
I'm in central Indiana and the game is coming in perfect for me.
January 5th, 2014 at 4:34 PM ^
This game/weather makes me extra not sad about moving away from the midwest and to Oregon.
January 5th, 2014 at 4:35 PM ^
If they are sleveless, they are nucking futs. Also, there is a new color added to the Packers scheme; Hunter's orange. The stadium is filled with it.
January 5th, 2014 at 4:42 PM ^
Erin Andrews looked good. Everybody else looks cold.
January 5th, 2014 at 6:17 PM ^
You must have a thing for pig tails.
January 5th, 2014 at 4:44 PM ^
Idiots. Get a dome.
January 5th, 2014 at 4:55 PM ^
Indoor football sucks. It should be played out in the elements. They can drink cocoa on the sidelines.
January 5th, 2014 at 4:59 PM ^
Disagree. I enjoy seeing the players being able to execute to the most of abilities rather than a survival style game, liek the Detroit-Philadelphia game earlier in the year.
January 5th, 2014 at 5:07 PM ^
The weather is a variable these guys grow up dealing with in high school and college. Why shouldn't they have to face it in the pros? Yeah, it's harder to play in poor conditions, but that adds to the spectacle. I'm actually watching today because of the weather. I wouldn't care otherwise.
January 5th, 2014 at 5:18 PM ^
It's good to see millionaires having a miserable day at work.
January 5th, 2014 at 5:19 PM ^
What high school or college teams play this late into the year above the Mason Dixon line? The Pinstripe bowl is the one outlier I can think of. Not a strong case.
January 5th, 2014 at 5:27 PM ^
Today's game is an outlier, too. Most Green Bay home games aren't that cold, just the ones at the end of the season. My point goes beyond temperatures. When you're an outdoor team you never really know what the weather will be like - it's a variable that can affect everything - your playcalling, whether you kick/punt, how well your QB can throw, etc. I find that a lot more interesting than playing every home game in sterile 70-degree dry conditions.
January 5th, 2014 at 5:40 PM ^
There are numerous variables you can talk about but none of those players grew up playing during the Winter in cold weather regions. What they're facing in the pros is completely different because of the time of year they play and the location. I don't really care where they play, inside or out, but you can't say that they grew up playing in these sort of conditions.
January 5th, 2014 at 5:54 PM ^
I'm not saying that HS players play in exactly these conditions. I don't know why you are fixated on that idea.
Playing in the cold is just one potential aspect of outdoor football. It can also be really hot, or rainy, or windy, or whatever. Football players grow up playing outdoors and maybe it's not below zero outside, but they still have to worry about how the weather will affect them. To go from dealing with that all through college, and then go to a perfectly consistent 70-degree, no wind environment seems backwards. When the Lions play, you know exactly what the conditions are going to be every time. I find that boring.
January 5th, 2014 at 6:09 PM ^
I find it boring as well. The game is much more interesting with all the natural elements being involved, which includes real grass. My only point was how these conditions, which are much more prevalent during Winter (usually beginning on the 21st of December), have not become acquainted with the players and vice versa. "Hello, Winter." "Hello, Football players." The difference in temp from Fall to Winter is a fairly nice drop off in temperature so my point is that yes, players grow up all the way from peewee through college player predominately outdoors, but not in this kind of outdoors (real Winter).
January 5th, 2014 at 6:47 PM ^
I remember seeing a Dolphins game in Miami years ago that was nearly played in a monsoon- players were hitting sheets of water 3 inches deep and visibility was less than 10-15 ft. Forgot how Marino did in it.
January 5th, 2014 at 5:21 PM ^
Weather is variable...most kids in high school play in good weather (I live in Illinois, temps were nice most of HS regular season, and playoffs conclude at thanksgiving)...in college, usually play up to 1st week of December and then most bowls are played in warmer temps.
January 5th, 2014 at 6:25 PM ^
Two observations
1) Baseball would be much more interesting if they played it in snow.
2) Why are the announcers wearing winter coats? Aren't there windows in the booth? No heaters?
January 5th, 2014 at 8:23 PM ^
No way. The dome is a homefield advantage for the lions and increases fan support. Pros are different than college. At least get some field turf. That field is shit!
January 5th, 2014 at 5:20 PM ^
Maybe the Lions should go back outdoors. Playing indoors hasn't done them a lot of good.
January 5th, 2014 at 4:45 PM ^
Harbaugh looks super douchey in that thing he's wearing. True story.
January 5th, 2014 at 4:47 PM ^
Fuck Aaron Rodgers.
Just want to get that in while I'm thinking of it.
January 5th, 2014 at 6:09 PM ^
Why the hate for Rodgers?
January 5th, 2014 at 6:28 PM ^
They raised his rates.
January 5th, 2014 at 4:49 PM ^
That SF admin asked that the players where sleeves, most did, especially the linemen.
GB players are all being "macho."
January 5th, 2014 at 4:57 PM ^
Is that Italian for "stupid"?
January 5th, 2014 at 5:01 PM ^
Another resident tough guy, center Jonathan Goodwin, who makes his living in the middle of the NFL trenches, agreed: “I have no problem wearing sleeves. I think it’s safe to say you’ll see something on my arms. I gave up on the don’t-wear-sleeves-and-look-tough thing a long time ago.”
January 5th, 2014 at 5:31 PM ^
Duh, Jonathan Goodwin is smart. ..he went to Michigan!
January 5th, 2014 at 4:58 PM ^
Anyone going sleeveless in this is a moron.
January 5th, 2014 at 4:59 PM ^
A few big plays, a few almosts.
January 5th, 2014 at 5:00 PM ^
The field is the color dirt.
January 5th, 2014 at 5:06 PM ^
Looks like a cow pasture. Now I know frozen tundra is brown. Wish Charles Woodson was still with the Packers.
January 5th, 2014 at 5:09 PM ^
Watching your coach make a stupid-ass fourth down decision and then having the coach that turned down Michigan come back with a smart one that goes for 35 yards one minute later is super-fun guys
January 5th, 2014 at 5:38 PM ^
so not certain what you're referring to, but I've been struck by the continuous runs on 3rd and short. It's clear to me that if Harbaugh had come here, we would have a lot of the same "ram it up the middle" play calls we were so frustrated with the last two years. Just like Stanford did in the Rose Bowl. Just like Bo did. They have that same philosophy.
January 5th, 2014 at 5:42 PM ^
I will blame on snowmagedon
January 5th, 2014 at 5:18 PM ^
WTF is up with the NFL officials? They have no freaking clue what Pass Interferance or Defensive holding is, and they miss calls every single week... and in the end zone to boot. #clueless
January 5th, 2014 at 5:57 PM ^
This is why my mind was blown at the outcry over the replacement refs. The real refs suck just as hard. I honestly think the ref union paid off espn and the networks to blow it out of proportion so their guys would get paid.
January 5th, 2014 at 5:19 PM ^
64 and sunny here in Tucson. Just saying. :-)
I like NFL games like this every once in a while. It lends extra drama.
January 5th, 2014 at 5:21 PM ^
Well if you're a Pack fan watching this...
you have to feel good knowing no PI or holding by DBs will be called in this game!
I'm thinking maybe the ref would have to take his glove off to pull out his flag, and that ain't happnin! Not in this cold!
