Rose Bowl Open Thread

The Granddaddy of them all! The 100th Rose Bowl. Number 4 Michigan State vs. Number 5 Stanford. Who are you guys taking in this game and why? I like Stanford so I wouldn't mind to see them win. I do think the perception of the Big Ten is somewhat important, but I also don't think the Big Ten being that great matters a whole lot. I'm cheering for neither team though. I am just hoping for a good quality game.

The line favors Stanford by 5.5 points. Michigan State has the best defense in the country. Stanford has one of the best ground and pound teams in the country.

F/+ Projection: Stanford 20, Michigan State 11
Win Probability: Stanford 73%

Is that a smart decision to let the punt just roll like that?

I remember Gallon just laying on top of one of those punts and that saved some time and yards.

A run up the middle when it hasn't been working all game?  Sure thing!  I get that it is short yardage, but this appears (to me) that it is Borges-level incompetence.

There was 5 and a half minutes left in the game and you have 2 timeouts.

Even if MSU goes down and gets a FG, at least you're in it.

If you go for it and don't get it and they get a FG, the game is over.

And you don't know that...

And if they go the length of the field and score, you deserve to lose, but you don't give up the game on 4th and 5 with 4-5 minutes left and two timeouts.

It's common sense.

Now look, they have a shot to WIN.
