Going to the Iowa game, advice?
Hey guys, so this is my first road game, and I'm going with my dad, bro, and roommate, any suggestions on anything I should know? If anyone cares, we'll be on that alumni charter-flight thing, because my dad didn't want to drive and the tickets for that are half as expensive as tickets on a regular flight to Iowa. I'll be cheering my ass off, so I'll try to cover as many MGoBlogger absences as I can.

Expect to get harassed. Just understand you are in their territory, so just take the jawing. Dont try to be a badass thinking you can take them all on and you'll be fine.

i'd be surprised if there was any significant jawing from iowa...unless it really is true that most of america hates us. i know we wouldn't really yell at visiting iowa fans

The reply: "Good luck, I hope it's a good game!" is my personal favorite while tailgating. It's kind of hard for anyone to get too riled up at you after that.

I'll be on that flight too. It's gonna be an awesome time. After going to the MSU game I'd have to say that I'm not really worried about going to Iowa. I always hear great things about Iowa City and Kinnick. Just remember---they dont have a professional team to cheer for so the fans are pretty passionate about the hawkeyes.

I'm jealous of all you plane folks (open bar), it looks like a great time (open bar), but $599 was a bit much for me, even though the tix themselves ended up being a bit pricey in the end. Luckily the night game leaves plenty of time for a leisurely 7 hour drive (definitively not open bar)...

I lived in Ann Arbor for most of my life and yes we do have professional teams to cheer for. Its less than an hour drive to see the tigers, wings and lions. And about an hour to see the pistons

And I am just speaking about the fanbase as a whole. Obviously, for myself and most of the other people here, no professional team will ever match the wolverines.

I think the point was that you can go to Ford Field and not see a professional home team.

Their stadium is crazy. It's a great atmosphere. Hopefully Michigan doesn't play like crap. There's nothing like going to another state, losing, and coming back disappointed.

Last year made for a long trip back to west Michigan from Pennsylvania.
Of course I didn't really think we'd win. And despite the fact that we got murdered, it was one hell of an experience. PSU has some great fans and their stadium is intimidating.

I have been to Kinnick Stadium for a Michigan game back in the 90's (we won). We were able to scalp tix right near the stadium for a decent price. The Iowa fans are pretty good folk. You should be able to wear your Michigan colors and cheer for the Blue openly and loudly and not get too much grief. Just be a good fan / sport (common sense rules) and you should have a great time. It's a wonderful place to see a college football game.
Iowa City is a tremendous college town with great bars and restaurants. It's a beautiful campus. Although it's suppose to be cold this weekend. Man, I wish I was making the trip myself. Have a good time...and may you see a Meeechigan victory.

The weather is what makes football great and I looked up the forecast yesterday. Expect a high of 49 degrees and a low of 33! Whoo! I will be at the game as well and probably wear my warmest Michigan attire.

Driving out there with a friend from...Hawaii. He's flying into DTW then driving into IA. How is that 33degrees gonna feel on his sunburned ass?
